Getrag rebuild; speedo gear tooth count?

Sorry to be vague, but somebody suggested to me to replace a speedo gear while I'm rebuilding the transmission. Does anyone know the tooth count on the gear so I can be sure to order the right one?

With your 4. 10 axle you should have a 28 tooth gear, part number 2538928. Trust me, bring the part number with you to the dealer. If they have to look it up, you'll most likely get the 35 tooth gear for the gasser trucks. The speedometer pinion section in the 90-93 truck catalog is horrid.



I really need to start a speedometer thread on here for all the common gears and adapters. Every gear ratio has its own adapter.

Called dealer…they still have a couple left. BUT, it was unclear whether it was the correct one or not, even with the gear ratio and tire size known. :{ So, I guess I'll jsut have to wait until the transmission is down.
