Getrag Shift tower removal....Nevermind

Ok I've got my transmission ready to come out but for 1 problem. I cant get it out w/o removing the shift tower. I have my FSM in my wife's truck and she had to go into work today.

So can anybody give me the quick and dirty on how to get that shift tower out of the way so I can finish pulling that dead getrag?

Going to check to see if it's a rebuild or not. If it's over 600 bucks in parts I'm just going to get an NV4500.

Nevermind... I got it. Wont let me remove the post yet. Please delete it pastor. ! Thanks

I took that little snap ring out with a small slotted screwdriver. However, be prepared it is a bit of a pain getting shifter back in place and the snap ring. An extra set of hands will be helpful.

I've done it both ways. The snap ring pliers are the fastest and easiest but a little time and two flat drivers will do the trick too. My gutbag growls when it gets hungry for oil this is how I feed it to keep it overfilled.

Please be VERY careful with the growl.

After looking at mine it appears the top cover seal was never applied correctly and it fell into the case. This caused it to puke an abnormal ammount of oil. I didnt notice it untill it started to growl a little. Pulled over & filled it up but toooo late.

That was all she wrote.

on my truck i just pulled the lower shifter out... . but if you plan on installing a nv4500 (according to the movie) u have to cut the floor out. if you do this PM me and i'll let u what to do in detail.
