I just bought a 93 with a 5 speed. Has anyone installed a trans temp guage?? How about a cooler of some sort?? I will be towing all the time and want to try and make it last. I will be going to all amsoil in the truck also. Thanks, Karl

:) Karl, I don't know about a cooler or sensor, but you will be happy with adding a extra quart of oil to the trans. Different ways to do this, I'll share mine. Used a steel nipple out of trans, then a 90 degree ell, another short steel nipple, then a steel cap. Parked the truck on a side hill and added the oil with a small hand pump they sell at the auto parts store. Real quiet now and shifts good, except for reverse as it was always hard to get into. Tim:)

Karl, you can get Fast Coolers to attach to one or both sides of the trans. They bolt on where the PTO covers are. I'm not totally sold on their value for me, but I do have one of the windows they sell so I can see the oil level. IMO, the best thing you can do for your 5 speed is to overfill with 5W30 synthetic. I dump 5 quarts in through the shifter hole. If you're towing all the time, I'd say it's worth putting in a gauge, and maybe the cooler(s). :)

I've got a Fast Cooler on the drivers side of my NV4500HD and a filter on the pass. side. The Getrag would be able to do the same. The Fast Coolers do work as I have seen a 25 degree drop in trans temp. You can also install Fast coolers on both sides of your transmission.

Fast coolers have a provision for a temp probe built in to them. You can also replace your drain plug with a reducer and install a temperature prob there. If you use Westach gauges from Genos they have a magnetic sensor that works quite well.

Hope this helps.
