Anything I should be looking at in terms of maintenance? I've heard it's a good idea to flush the auto transmission.

Will any reputable transmission shop know how to flush this transmission right? Anything I should ask for in specific?

Anything else I should look at?

Wow, it's been several days and no replies???

I just want to know if there are any other significant maintenance items that need to be taken care of besides the transmission flush... and if this transmission flush is necessary, and how it is done/what I need to ask for at the transmission shop.

Don't have an auto but if you want to really change the auto transmission fluid you need to have it power flushed. This cleans out all the old fluid in the torque converter, along with the normal fluids that drain out of the pan. By now you should have changed the fluids in your differential(s), transfer case (4X4), and anti freeze. Also, even though your air cleaner has a gauge to let you know how dirty it is, I would replace it at least annually. I assume you have changed your fuel filter at least three times since new. Hope this helps... ;)

I'm getting close to 200k there is much to take care of other than listed in your book . my starter had to be rebuilt at 130k and torque converter at 116k , return lines from pump at 105k and twice on the rear axle seals.

A few other things you can do!

A buddy of mine had his power steering/brakes go out on him ('02 HO). The dealer didn't find any real problems... but I think they drained the fluids and flushed out the system. . and eveything was fine. He must have got some crud in the PS system.

I changed over to Valvoline Synthetic for both the power steering and brake fluid at 35k. Haven't had any issues with mine so far.

50K on your 02? Sounds like you're needing a new pickup... this one is worn out:D:D:D Just kidding... heck it probably isn't even really broke in... enjoy it!!

LOL, I bought it at 42k, and now it has 45k. I'm just trying to plan ahead so I can keep a good, solid, maintenance interval. I don't want my new truck to end up like my old truck.

My old truck was a 93 cummins, and it was a carpenter's truck... no more preventative maintenance than absolutely necessary was done to that truck before I got it... and I footed the bill.

I plan on doing a full Amsoil overhaul at 50k. All fluids are going to Amsoil, as well as a bi-pass filtration kit. But I'm going to still use fleetgaurd filters.

There is a relatively large racing market in town, so I may just opt to become an amsoil dealer instead of the "preferred customer" option. I might make a little profit! :D

I am NOT trying to start a debate here... just thinking outloud... well, typing... err... whatver! :D
