ok guys i just added the 100 h. p sticks in my truck now with my box on i can get hot quick real hot if i leave the box off im good to go about 1100 max. i think im gonna need a bigger turbo but should i look for a box that does timing before i look for a turbo how much if any will the timing box help me on the heat? will an edge ez do the trick or should i look for something else? i know about the smarty but cant drop the bucks for it right now. also can anyone recommend a turbo for my setup i think my mods are about done if i can get to use all the fuel i can supply and keep it from melting. i can hit about 40 - 42 pounds boost with the hx. thanks adam

You will need a turbo. You're pushing the limits of the hx with the sticks and the box. A timing box will only add more heat so better to do the turbo now. I would check with industrial injection as I've had great luck with my sps. I have don's m-4's (150hp) on the way and was told heat wouldn't be an issue unless towing with the box turned way up. Always a good investment in turbo just to keep it cool and give you more room to play... cause we all know you will need it :-laf

I Thought Everything Ive Been Reading Said Changing Timing Should Reduce Egt's ????????????????

On a 12v truck advancing the timing reduces egt's. But on a 24v the timing boxes also change fueling parameters so egt's and HP go up.

Now as for a turbo I would consider the Phat Shaft 62 or the Super 62. We have set lots of trucks up modded like yours with these turbos and everyone has been pleased.

I agree. Save up for the turbo first and then you NEED to get a Smarty. My little HTB2 62/12 never gets above 1250* WOT so any of the turbos mentioned would do the trick. Make sure you watch that Carter. I just lost another one a few weeks ago. Wish I'd went with a FASS several years ago.

I would unblock the wastegate. You need to bleed off what you can. Once you get up around 40psi you start going backwards building more boost. . . you're heating the air so much coming out of the compressor it's not going to help EGTs. Then there's the issue of skyrocketing drive pressure when you block the wastegate, that's causing high EGTs right there. . . and asking for a blown head gasket.

You def. need a different turbo... I did too.

I went with a hybrid HX35 / 40... this uses the stock elbow and the housing is 14cm so there is less backpressure and the compressor can go up to 40 psi before the wastegate opens...

What I had before was like you, had to watch how much go pedal to push to keep EGT at max... .

Now, I am able to push almost full throttle on a hard climb and I am still at max but comparativly I am like 200 deg cooler. this seems to also do more work with less pressure... . when towing, the average pressure was like 25 - 35 psi.

Got the turbo at Industrial Injection.
