Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) gettin rid of the dually

Well, after 8 months of city drivin, it's time to trade the 'ol dually in on somethin a lil more practical. Love the truck, given me nothin but good times but I think im gonna get rid of 'er.



So, If anyones lookin for a 98 QA 12V 4x4, lemee know... i'd prolly be interested ni tradin for a 12vQC 2500... but. . that's what I'm lookin for.



I dunno if I can get rid of the ol truck. . sure love it dearly. . dang thing will pull a house if I wanted too... just gets old in city traffic and tight parkin spots at work.

Well why don't you do what I did and keep your truck and buy a little beater disposable car for bombin around in. The amount you save in fuel will more than pay for and justify the cost of the car. Juust my opinion

As John B suggested, keep the big diesel for road trips. It'll be far more comfortable than a little car.



So look for an old Mercedes diesel. It'll give you decent mileage and a nice ride, be easy to park and, after you've fixed a bunch of things on it, will give you years of trouble-free service. There's a reason these cheap Mercedes diesels are used as taxis in many foreign countries: they'll happily run for quite a few hundred K miles.

A second on that motion. Just got me a little plymouth sundance with 67k miles on it. Owner wanted 500, I traded for about 5hrs of my time in plumbing work. (a friggin steal) Car needed a new master cyl. and the brakes bled somethin awful. In the end, shes a great little beater and I find myself driving it more than the truck. Also took my ins. down on the truck too now that Im not drivin it as much. .

I AINT gettin rid of my 12v, at least not until the body falls off.

I've just gotten used to driving my dually. I have to be more careful in tighter spots than my g/f with her Dakota, but it still isnt as bad. At least I have a rumbling diesel that is ultra. Plus, I get a little wider berth in traffic- cant forget that. Get a half ton, and they will crowd you. Dually with towing mirrors, and a grille guard. Looks awful menacing in the rear view mirror of that Civic.

I think 8 months with training wheels is long enough! How long did it take all of you to learn how to ride a bicycle? Certainly not 8 months. I know there are plenty of folks that keep them on forever, but that's no reason to do it yourself. Be Brave! Take 'em off!
