Remembering my fallen friends and brothers.

Just ordered the Canon GL2 camcorder with 3CCD and 20X optic and 100X digital.

Got a bunch of other stuff in packages (extra batt. , filters, cleaning stuff, tapes) and a good lowepro bag. batteries, a shoulder rest thing for the camera to sit on and it rests on your shoulder, the firewire card and cable, a micriphone adapter, Aux Light,..... All this for about $2400. There are some places that sell the camera for $2200 itself so I think I did good... .

One of the things I am going to do with this camera and the Video editing software I bought, I am going to record alot of the May Madness this year in Vegas and put together a DVD that I will put in the Classifieds for sale for those who were not able to attend.

Nice Eric! That's definitely a high end consumer camera. 3-chip CCD I'm assuming. Looking forward to seeing some of your videography.

Vaughn

EDIT: I see you already said 3-chip ;)

I just bought a Sony DCR-DVD101. It records on DVR discs.

I don't know a thing about cameras other than how to turn them on and use them. Paid $700 and some change at Sam's Club.

Is this thing already outdated? I replaced my old Panasonic analog VHS recorder with it. Has to be better than that old camera.

The DVD cameras are nice. When I bought a new Digital camera, it was to replace using the film camera..... I bought a Canon EOS Digital Rebel 6. 3 Mp. It's a SLR and the ability of changing lenses is nice. .

Here is the site for canon on the GL2. there are other places that have it for less so search around.

The Canon GL2 does have 3 chips and a very good digital image stablization. Has a kinda of a basic 1. 7 MP digital camera. not very good size but one thing this can do is the interval recording of like the time-lapse recording. has attachments for a hotshoe so you can do more high end mics and a flash for the Camera portion,

I bought a wireless mic system with the tie-clip mic and a hand-held mic for a wedding I am doing. (My brother in-law)

As I said above, I am going to do alot of recording at the may Madness get-together then go and edit it on the computer ... (first timer) ... . If I like what I did, I will make a DVD and offer it on the classifieds to whoever wants one. Probably design a cover for the Jewel cases and on the CD itself so it will look cool.....

I don't know how long it will be but I imagine it will be like a 30-60 min video, containing the dynos, the drags, the show and shine and Hall of gottahavits... . in that, I will have the vendors describe some of the stuff and how to get them. So Members who were not able to attend, will see what had gone on. Don't know how much it will be, maybe somewhere around $20... . don't know, this will be a learning experience... .

So anyway, can't wait til I get it to start playing with it. should be a lot of fun...

Sweet rig!

The Canon GL2 has a West Coast dyno correction factor built in... make sure you turn that setting off. Use a 1/4 ND and UV filter too... those West Coast trucks have a high bling-bling rating. :-laf

I haven't played with a GL2... but I do have some hours behind a GL1 and lots of hours behind a few XL-1S models. I've also had some experience with the Sony PD-150 and PD-170's. I won't even get into the DVC-PRO HD and HD-CAM stuff. *drool*

I own an older Panasonic GS70. The world's first consumer (not pro-sumer like the GL2, etc. ) rig with 3-CCD's. I shot an hour's worth of stuff at Tomah this past summer and quite a bit of stuff at the Great Outdoor Games... the color saturation and S/N ratio is really sweet on that little rig.
