Ok, Ok, I know I am the Gadget man..... my CB Handle is "Mr. Gadget".....

Anyway, At Industrial Injection, I am going to get a Hybrid HX 35/40 14 cm Non-Wastegated turbo... . I am doing an exchange of my stock turbo where it seems it is time to get more air into the engine.....

I can't wait, it will be much better for towing my heavy 5th wheel with using my Jacobs brake on the elbow so using the stock size outlet is necc. ... I did get the larger 14 cm housing but it is still the HX 35.....

I have a 35# boost gauge so I will use my throttle as my own Wastegate to limit it to 33-35 # boost or slightly higher on short bursts.....

My first tow this year will be in June so I won't have any info til then but I imagine I will notice differences in temps and such... .

So! excited and anxious... ... NEW TOY!!! hehe :D

You may find that a wastegated housing is a better deal.

It depends on your fueling, but if you do start pushing too hard, overspeeding the wheel is a rel possibility.

I'm not sure which wheel that version of the 40 comes with, but I would be wary of getting too large of a compressor for towing. I had a hybrid that advertised "the largest HX40 compressor available". That, combined with a 14cm housing, resulted in a truck that was really crippled for towing (and your combo is at least 75% heavier than what I'm pulling). Big compressors are great for high rpm/heavy fueling, but they take away from cruise rpm performance. Same with larger exhaust housings. You'll end up with low/midrange rpm egts that are higher than what you had before with your stock turbo.

So I would be careful that you're not getting too large of a turbo if you want to keep your towing performance in 6th. Or at least keep the 12cm w/g housing handy if you want to bring the effective rpm range of the turbo back down a couple of hundred rpm.

I had a 35/40 hybrid with a 14cm housing, and I loved it. It doesn't say if you have any fueling enhancements, but I ran with mach 1. 5's and a comp box, and with the comp on 1x5, it was a hard towing combo to beat.

Relax, you'll like it! :-laf

I have some fueling, not too hard ...

I have the Edge EZ, 2nd stage Bosch injectors, and one in a while, I use the 4-wire Blue chip box..... I might have the bluechip on at 15% more often with this so when pulling hills, it won't get too hot and have enough power to pull a hill in 6th...

I have just under 400 Hp right now..... I should have about 450 or so after this.

Freak, well what do I know on the names or numbers?

All Brady at II said was it was the best 8. 3 Cummins Compressor available in the HX 40

You won't be able to keep 450hp cool with a 35/40 hybrid... . Been there done that! That's not to say you won't be able to tow with the combo, you'll just have to control the EGT's with your right foot.

well, "best" is a subjective term... . lets leave it at that!!!

Ask Brady what the part number is for the wheel. Then I can compare it to the one I think is the best. :-laf

I ran a turbo just like that with a 60mm compressor and it spooled way fast and was an excellent towing turbo. And it sounds like thats what he is after. Stay under 40lbs of boost and enjoy.

I have one ordered from Industrial, it is a 60mm wheel, 14 wastegated housing. I hope it ships tomorrow so i will have it for thr weekend.
