Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Getting hoses off easily

Is there a trick to make hose easier to remove?



Installing 1/4" hose onto barb, once its on it is NOT coming off

Its on my boost elbow off my AFC, so I KNOW I'll be taking it off,

prolly soon



What can I put on to make it easier to take off?

I'll be using a clamp and its very sticky hose, so I"m not worried about it being too loose

I guess if your clamping ot you could use some wd 40 or other oil but before that how are you trying to get them off? Pulling causes them to constrict and get tighter. try pushing them off either with your hand or with a dull screwdriver

Thinking of Lube-think Marine Green Aqua Lube would be ok? rated to 400F

I can push them on fine, its getting them off
I twist and turn but often just end up cutting it off
Since I think I'll be taking this off soon, I wish I could make it easier

Unless you packed it in or the lube dissolved rubber I wouldn't worry about the wastegate

The best answer is to use new hose not lube. As the hose ages it will get harder. Silicone pressure rated hose will work best and come off easier.

Yes, I am using new hose. It's pretty sturdy, and rated to 100psi, which should be plenty as a line to my wastegate (had it handy)

The old stuff I took off had an orange inner layer, and was spongy. Easy to remove.

The stuff I'm putting on, I tried a barb just to make sure it was the right size,

could barely get the barb out. If its that hard now, my experience is it will be tougher once its on the engine

And since I"m having problems with my AFC, I know i"ll be taking it off soon

Just hate spending all that time yanking on hoses, like I said I'll probably just have to cut it off. So looking for a short cut, I guess.

Don't Frett, just get plenty of hose and cut it off when you have to.

I use a ice pick, the old timers way!

Same here. Slip an angled pick under the edge of the tube and work it around the diameter od the inside of the tube. Might even pull gently on the hose as you do it. Should slip off with minimal damage.
