weight dist hitches?

I broke down and ordered a Prodigy to replace a

"Activator" installed on the truck.

Will I just have to match up color to color, when I get the Prodigy in?

I have never installed a controller on any of my vehicles in the past, so any help would be appreciated.

I forgot, my truck did not come with the tow package.

BGDUMMY

I have a Prodigy and my truck did come with a tow package. When the previous owner

hooked up the brake controller he cut all the wires on the factory wiring and wired it up

as if it didn’t have factory wiring. When I installed the Prodigy I just matched the old wiring and it worked fine. Hope this helps. Jeff. :D

Just installed mine yesterday. I purchased the dodge harness ($9. 00) from tekonsha. This is money well spent . Plug one end into blue dodge plug near steering column and plug the other end into prodigy. install time five minutes. plus it lets you simply unplug the prodigy to remove if you so desire. this feature alone is worth the price of the prodigy.

If your truck did not come with the towing package you won't have the plug under the dash. The wires on the Prodigy will be Red, goes to cold side of stop light switch, White, goes to good ground source, the don't recommend grounding to the dash. Black, goes to 12 volt supply with 30 amp auto reset breaker. Blue, Goes to trailer brakes. The wire color code on the one you now have and the Prodigy may match but check to make sure. The new unit will come with a wireing diagram. bg

Prodigy

BGD;

Iwent with the Prodigy last year, was'nt satisifed with the brake application to the trailer. Keeped in touch with the tech dept of tekoncha, and came to the conclusion that elevating, (angle) to 45* the controler would give better results. just something to watch out for. how ever, my contorler was of the earler models and they did send me a replacement, whitch was up graded with new soft ware and even work better than the origanal. But wire it as the insructions dictate, good ground and good power to and from the battery. also, the ground from the plug on the rear must be more than addiqute, these dodges have a ground problem, chasis, body, engine, DC nows this but uses bandaids to fix it. its up to us to cross the "T"s & dot the "I"s. just my pennys worth

sorry about the lenghth.

Marv.

Hey guys,

I'm not familliar with the Prodigy, what's the differance between that and say the one I have, I think it's a Reese.

I have a 1996 2500 that has the trailer brake connector under the dash and I did not order the trailer package. The truck was assembled in St Louis. Did I get an odd one?

Thanks to All!!

Got it hooked up, no problems.

One thing though, I have to turn up the volts to 13, just to get the trailer to just about lock up.

I had to set mine to 13 to get the trailer to lock up. I called the tech line and they said that was ok. I did notice after the brakes on the trailer warmed up a bit they worked better. The instructions said warm the brakes up before you set the controller. Mine works fine at 13 so that’s where I set it. Jeff
