Dumb question about towing with auto trans

1st Gen pulling huge combine

Just kinda a rant here. I just ran up to CT to pickup a jeep for a buddy and some states are down right crazy with the way they charge you for tolls. In MD its the worst. the harbor tunnel is 2 bucks for 2 axles then another 2 bucks for each axle after that. Then another toll that is 5bucks for 2 axles is the same bs. its half tempting to take a set of tires off next time i'm running empty.

tolls suck

I went to maine a few years ago and paid nearly 200 for the round trip from Ohio to Maine & back. That GW bridge in NY sucks!!!!

Don't come up I-94W from Ohio to Milwaukee! Illinois will kill you -- they charge by the TIRE!!! Imagine a dually rig with a tandem trailer!!! And there ain't just one toll booth -- no - there are about 6!

Wasn't that Illinois toll road only supposed to be a toll way until they paid it off? And that was how many years ago?

Try Oklahoma they charge you to get up from the couch to get a can of beer out of the fridge. I try and avoid the state completely even if I have to drive a hundred miles more.

They do??? I know on I90 they charge by the axle...

AHHHHH!!! Life is good out here in God's country! I can set the cruise on the interstate and not have to touch the brakes for hours and all for nothing more than the price of fuel! A solution to your problems out there may be to vote anti-communist, which appears to be the trouble in those tax you to death states.

Be glad they get you by axle... PA gets you by both axle and your weight... and their scales aren't always accurate. They get my 2500 for a class 2 all the time when its a class 1.

IL is the most expensive tolls I've had to run across yet. Almost $40 to drive from I-88 east to I-294 down to I-80 with a big truck. They don't use tickets like a lot of other states do, where you just pay once when you jump off. If you don't have a the I-pass/Ezpass, it is a serious time killer. Rush hour is horrible.

The worst toll I've paid, was on the skyway in Chi-town. $8. 40.

2 booths on I-88 are $9. 50 each. The rest I have to go through (4 or so) are $4/ea.

IN raised their tolls earlier this year, from $14. 25/5 axle to $19, to run across the state on 80/90.

OH (depending if you take I-76 or stay on I-80), is either 30. 50 or 33. 50.

yes tolls will get ya. I hate it when I have to go through Illinois. I remember when I used to live there in college. seemed like I was always running out of money.

I saw on the news yesterday that Pa is trying to make Rt 80 a toll road. To "cover the infrastructure", and help pay for road repairs.

I have a sneaking suspicion that nearly all interstate roads will be toll roads within 50yrs.

MO has considered making I-70 a toll road all the way across.

The PA turnpike was supposed to become "free" once it paid for itself... it was such a money maker they added the northeast extension.

They are currently talking about making both I80 and I81 for PA tollroads... and our wonderful governor will probably get it since he is using the "revenue" from it to repair bridges now that the scare over bridges is top priority.

Now THAT is ridiculous #@$%! What do we have to do to get it thru the government's head that our transportation infrastructure is (holding hands about eye-level) somewhere up here on the priority list, and current existing freeways shouldn't become tollways. Time to get priorities straight in this country.

They all say that ... ... ... ... KY was the only state to ever actually remove toll booths as far as I know.

Once they get all of the toll booths in place across the nation, continue the move from a cashless society they will be able to track each and every one of us.

This country is not too far off form becoming completely socialistic. The question is, will it implode on the way to communist?
