The cruise control in my truck hasn't worked in about 2 years, so I finally got tired of it and my friend and I traced the problem down to the right switch in the steering wheel using some high dollar scanner. I called Dodge today and they want $74 for the switch assembly. The parts man said that I had to replace both switches. From my service manual, I can see that it makes sense. The kicker is that they want $74 for the switches. Am I getting shafted on this??? Thanks for the help.

PS Part numbers would be great for comparison and to make sure I am getting the correct part.

Yes, you are getting shafted. It is thier favorite past time. I had a bad harmonic ballancer on my old 77 Powerwagon w/ a 440. The local Dodge dealer was happy to provide me with one for $450 !!!!!!   The hot rod aftermarket ones are barely even half that!

I ended up having a shop in California rebuild it for $80.....

The dealers have us over a barrel and they know it! Call around though as there is a difference between dealers in price. The rural dealers tend to be less expensive I have noticed.

Case I just bought those same switches and they are about $25 but yes they do come as a set. Let me know and I will order you some and you can pay me back. Dan

Problem Solved

I figured out the problem after I called the Dodge dealer back today. The parts guy yesterday ordered a complete switch bar for a two spoke steering wheel instead of a three spoke wheel. Now I am just getting the switches that I need for $34. Thanks for the help. It just goes to show that a good parts man can make all of the difference. I never knew there were different types of steering wheels and sure as heck wasn't asked (yesterday) what type my truck had.
