I just got a rusted out double axle car trailer to repair and keep. Been wanting one for a long time :D

I'm wondering how you get the car positioned on the trailer for correct weight distribution?

I just measure the hitch height with trailer empty, then load the car till you drop the hitch about 2" this will give you about 500lbs hitch weight. With a heavier load you may hafta go 3" down or about 1,000 lbs. This is just guess work on actual weights as I have never put it on a scale to check this, however it works out ok for me.

I run both a car hauler and a cargo trailer. What I do is find a set of scales and weigh the truck, then put on either trailer and weigh the truck again without putting the trailer on the scale. Then I pull forward and put the trailer on the scale and weigh it. Then the trailer all by itself. From this I can figure out what the tounge weight is empty. Then when I load up, I pull back across the scales and adjust accordingly based on the additional weight and where it is, truck or trailer. Works pretty good so far. :)
