Anybody have any ideas for getting that nasty white wax residue off the tail light bezels and the other black plastic trim? I tried WD-40, Back to Black, Blackchrome, etc. They just cover it, as soon as i wash the truck you can see it again. Any suggestions?

I just rub it real hard with my thumb and it comes off.

Youre plastic might be in better shape than mine since your truck is newer, try an old tooth brush. Works good in crevaces, corners, and emblems too. :D

wax-a off

Laquer thinner on a terry towel works, or a pre-paint wipe-down like "Pre-Cleano" and a toothbrush... usually a good idea when waxing a vehicle is to wipe down the black vinyl with "Black Again" or such product BEFORE waxing... keeps the white stuff from sticking.

Take it to the carwash and hit it with some high pressure water, thats what I usualy do in a situation like that. My. 02

Tire Cleaner

I use tire cleaner to clean the plastic after waxing I spary the tires then use the rag and a little extra spray and do the plastic. It also works good under the hood on turbo inlet hose and plastic on top of the rad. and intercooler. :)

When I used wax, I would follow up with an old toothbrush on the cracks and rubber. Use Klasse now, not a wax, and it doesn't leave a residue on rubber and plastic like wax. Use 303 on the plastic and rubber to keep it looking good (bed liner too). Use the three towel method published in Road and Track back in the late 60's or early 70's to wash my vehicles. Lots of different tricks to keep your rides looking good. Technology moves on in some cases, otherwise I stick with the tried and true.

Try the Back-To-Black again.

I found when using the Back-To-Black it is impotant to let it "soak in" for 15 - 20 minutes.

When I did my first wax I got too close to all that black plastic trim:( After trying just about everything out there to remove it, my wife bought me some Mothers Back-to-Black.

It took two applications, but it did the trick and I have been using it ever since:D

EMDDIESEL, now I can repay her kindness with the Lexol;)

Wax on plastic

EMDDiesel—you're not gonna believe this one, but it works (it was in the Pop Mech Car Care Guide): smooth peanut butter warmed to a paste rubbed into the plastic then wiped off will absorb the wax AND has oils that really shine the plastic!! I couldn't believe it til I tried it (Dang that Popular Mechanics)

After you wash your truck, wipe down all your moldings with Armor-All(or similar) BEFORE you wax. Then when you wax, it won't stick to the Armor- All. My . 02~Jim.

Next time you go to a gun show, or one of those discount tool places, pick up a small brass brissel brush, they really clean out that white stuff from textured plastic.

I got some stuff from Eagle One called "WET". Applies like shoe polish, but is a clear/milky fluid. My plastic now looks like it just left the dealer for the first time. Dont touch it while its still wet... I have a nice thumb print on my drivers door handle. I am sure touchup with "WET" will fix the goof up.

I use Turtle Wax brand "black Wax". Works great for getting off white wax srtains. It is a liquid, rub it on, wait, buff it off. I use it on all bl;ack plastic on my truck. I also use Harley wax, which leaves no powdery stains. Puire wax. :D
