The ghost code appeared again today. I haven't seen it in some months, but given that it is halloween, it suppose it is appropriate. This time I had my code busting gear ready, but alas, to no avail. Here is the low down...
When I started my RAM at lunch today, the electric windows would not roll down and the malfunction indicator light (MIL) was on.
I shut the engine down and started it up again. The Windows worked, but the MIL stayed on. I drove to the park where I have lunch, turned off the truck and plugged in my code reader. With the truck "on" but not running, the code reader showed that the MIL was on but there were no codes. I received some error messages that are not in the code reader manual, but no codes. I tried to clear the code several times. I had to cycle through six start/stop cycles until I was able to clear the code with the reader.
On the way home from work I didn't have any problems. The truck ran fine even with the MIL on. This is the fourth time this has happened. I have never felt any change in engine performance, sound, etc. When I took it to the dealer after the third occurence, they found no codes and the MIL did not light when they started it. I believe their start was also the sixth start. The frozen windows are a new thing. I wonder what is next.
Any ideas?
