After a brief search in the archives... . I found very little in terms of who's using what type/brand/style of replacement pads for our Rams. Does anyone have feedback from different pads... . or do I have to use the factory stuff? Unfortunately, I've had some bad luck with brakes from those local chain store's. Between poor fit and finish & squealing like a pig. I'd prefer to buy a quality part. Rather than the cheapest one Autozone, etc. . could buy. .

Thanks in advance.

One thing I read a while back which I took to heart, if a pad is said to last a life time the rotor won't. Which would you rather replace. To me that is a none issue.
Good luck

Deezal, I run Performance Friction pads in the race car... and i bought some for the Ram... from AutoZone!! They are pretty cheap, and with a fluid change to AP550 Racing fluid, the brakes are great!

I am suprised you did not see anything!

I run Performance Friction Carbon Matalic pads. Autozone, around $35. 00

I have never cut the rotors on my truck, when I do pads, I just scratch them up with sandpaper on a air grinder. The rotors are not wearing at all.

The pads have a life time warrantee, but beware, if one is worn more then the others they will say "you have a frozen calaper and that voids the warrantee"

OK... went to autozone. .

The asks me a question, something like if I have two tabs or one solid tab at the top of the pad???? Huhh!! What does this mean.

How am I supposed to know which pads to buy for my 98. 5'?

The NAPA part# is AE7339M for the premium pads for my truck. They are $52. 95 a set. I hope I get more than 30kmi out of these.

The correct Performance Friction part number for diesel trucks (2500 & 3500) is #4594. These pads are for the 86 millimeter caliper and have the solid tab across the top. Part #3704 is for gas engine 2500's with the 80 millimeter calipers and has two tabs on top. Do not use these. I tried Performance Friction pads on my 2500. They stopped great, but I'm running 36" Super Swamper radials, so they only lasted about 20,000 miles. Last pad change I used Raybestos Super Stop pads. The Raybestos Super Stop brakes are severe duty (fleet service) pads and are holding up very well. They also have Super Stop rear shoes. Check out their website www.raybestos.com . -Glen
