Question: CD Antenna Mount

I didn't know Grizz. The ones we most frequent are in the 8 to 9 K range the BOB is not that tall BUT HAS SOME HORENDUS CLIFFS THAT GO FOR MILES :-laf

Tractorat I hope you enjoy the Glacier and have good weather. Be sure to see Trick Falls on the run up to Two Medicine Lake on the east side. After seeing most all of North America Rockies to include Canada and Alaska, Glacier NP has the best scenery of them all. I've been all over Glacier, Banff, Jasper and Alaska on foot, off road and I believe Glacier is the best. I think one year in the late 70's the Road GTTS was as late opening as the 4th of July. Most of the best of all of my memories of Glacier has come after or before tourist season. I love camping on the narrows of upper Two Medicine Lake. In 1982 on our way to Alaska we stayed there for a week in a tent at Two Medicine about the 2nd week in June the snow in the camp ground was still as high as the roofs on the restroom building. What a ball, that was one of many times Rose and I had the whole Park to ourselves. Late fall end of Sept is the same way. I'm putting a few pictures here because I can't help myself. The only way to see Glacier, in a CJ-5 in 1977. I pulled under the Weeping Wall and drenched my buddy sitting in the passenger side. Every time I get back up there I go out to see if the drift wood is still there. The Drift Wood in the one picture has been there every time i've been back there, 1975, 77, 79, 82, 85, 2001, and 2005. Have fun!

Crazy Horse, I agree that Glacier is the best National Park. At least in the lower 48. Been there 4 time.

There are some NP's in Alaska I like better, such as Katmai, NP, Denali, NP and Mount McKinley, NP.

jeepit, I would give my left *** to still have that Jeep. I special ordered that from Toledo where the Jeeps used to be made. Had 4. 10/4. 11 gears in the diffs and the 4 speed with the 6. 32 to 1 low gear 1st. HD springs front and rear that had 9 leaves at each corner when I got done with it. 258 with an Offy dual port manifold, Holley 450cfm 4 barrel carb, cam, ported and ploished/shaved head, header through 2. 5" exhaust. . . Had the old Amrmstrong True Trac 4 ply tires w/ inner tubes for airing down and alum spoke wheels. Sticker price from the factory was $5200 in 1977. The top was am option at the time and that's what pushed it over the $5000 mark. The jeep was unreal in what it would climb and descend when you were in 4 Lo granny gear.

Grizz, we saw all that in Alaska when we lived up there and most of what you mentioned was nice to see once, like the Grand Canyon, but there's something about Glacier that pulls on my soul to see it again.

jeepit, I just had about 9hours of 8mm reel to reel film digitally scanned and put to a hard drive in raw footage of us back in the 70's off roading in the Aleygeny National Forest. The off road footage came out clearer than the original film projected. I'm going to put some clips together after I get done with the edit to my YouTube page. There is footage of me in my old 74 Bronco and the 77 CJ-5 running the pipline and trails up in the Alegenys.

Tractorat, here is a high and a low shot of Trick Falls (Running Eagle) on the way up to upper Two Medicine Lake. When snow melt is low the over flow over the top is lost.

I'd like to see that!

BIG, I've done what you've done several times into the High Uintas Wilderness in NE Utah on horseback with pack horses with my ex-father-in-law and others. We'd do that for a week at a time. Every day we'd ride to another high country lake and fish. If I could find pictures of our experiences, I'd post them.

Crazy Horse, It's grizzlies and other wildlife that attract us to Alaska.

I was telling my best Internet friend Dresslerd that we will be gone for about a month in the Bob Marshall Wilderness starting in the AM. Its fun to ride from lake to lake I dont fish but like the Photo op's. We have rode in Glacier Park but its kind of a PITA they close trails to stock because of hikers. Its not that, that makes it a PITA its because when they do close a trail it means you have to plan for a different exit point. But still a blast.

Since I don't hunt, I enjoy watching and photographing wildlife. I hate to see people killing wildlife, especially bears, just for the trophy.

I agree 100%. They aught outlaw trophy hunting and make a person salvage 100% of what they kill. Either donate it to charity, like Alaska does or consume it. Alaska even salvages road kills to charity. I think this is something that needs to happen all across America and be salvaged by law enforcement and given to charity. I'm too old to hunt anymore but eating Moose, Caribou, Bear, Sheep, ETC made some of the best meals I've ever had. And it's a heck of allot better for a person that this cancer causing, chemical pumped up crap they call "beef" at your local store.

Hunting is good for controlling populations of wild game as well. Starvation is a terrible thing to witness and once you see it you will be a believer in responsible game population management. Look at all the problems the kalifornia peoples have now that you can't hardly hunt of own a gun there anymore. This over population is happening all across the urban reaches of the populated areas where hunting has fell out of favor due to the propaganda of the anti-gun and anti-hunting fanatics. This left wing crap is getting worse as I get older. If a person does not like hunting, don't hunt! But don't try to deny a person who decides to partake in the legal harvesting of game. Those people who chose not to hunt or live in that kind of enviroment are the same ones loosing their Poodles to Cyote. And due to the over protection of wolves once again they are threatening livestock on cattle ranches all around the national parks and this problem is going to grow by leaps and bounds in the future. Once again protection that came due mainly to propaganda by small groups of people that this was none of their business (the left). Anyway I find myself still today as I have done of the last almost 40 years taking movies and photos of wildlife on even my own property. In the last week alone we have seen a pregnant doe 20 feet off the back of the house and Wild Turkey on 3 occasions. Life goes on.

Crazy Horse / Grizz

If I can dare to agree with MOST of what you and Grizz said fine. But I hope to be able to disagree with just a little bit of what you said about Trophy Hunting. Trophy Hunting is the same to most of the hunters that my BIL's outfitting company takes out. The BIG DIFFERENCE is that most of the TRUE TROPHY hunters will pass on taking lesser NON TROPHY game and and lots of times will end up not taking an animal!!!! IMO trophy hunting does two things one it satisfies the hunters desire to take a Trophy specimen of the game pursued. Two it culls the heard yes taking a lesser specimen will end in the same result. But when the Trophy is taken he is a trophy because he has eluded hunters for many seasons and pray animals for even longer. His life is more than likely not going to last much longer anyway. Reasons being HE'S OLD predators take the old and sick and young. And he hasn't been SHOT!!!

I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE in my hunting life. We get to see the WORST in hunters and the BEST. Im happy to say that the best out number the worst by a very big percentage. Most or our hunting goes on at the end of the season for our personal hunts. Reasons being the BIG BOYS come out at the end of the season to feed DAY AND NITE. And most of the hunters DONT WANT TO DEAL WITH THE COLD!!!!They do this because they have been fighting with other bull/bucks and HAVE TO FEED or they wont make it thru the winter and even then lots of Trophies dont make it. We have been out in the mountains for that last 2 weeks and in a very remote place and have found many TROPHY racks (sheds) I have picked up many to bring back to people in town that dont have the ability to go where we do. So I take them the sheds to make knife handles and other things NOT MUCH GOES TO WASTE AROUND HERE.

Getting back to the TROPHY if the old are not culled from the herd they take valuable feed that the stronger longer living Bull/Buck need to carry on the breading. The trophy has lived his life and it time to pass on the genetics of past and present TROPHYS to improve the herd. So much for the Starvation part of your post.

Calif has its good points GUN CONTROL is not one of them. But with as many people wanting to hunt Calif. has some strong herds. Most hunters want the X zones and thats a waste of time IMO. I have hunted in N. Ca for Black-tail deer. THAT MY FREINDS IS A HUNT. They are not big they are not the prettiest but THEY ARE HARD TO HUNT. And as BIG A BUNCH OF SISSY'S THAT Ca has (not all ) the game has NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT ANYWAY :-laf

I dont know about any other state game being in dire needs but with these pics I dont think that MT has anything to worry about. The mass herd is VERY close to the end of the road hunting. But rest assured that as soon as the season comes close they head for the hills to where if you have no animals or VERY STRONG LEGS AND BACK your not going to even see them.

I hope that this was taken as JMO and i'm willing to talk about it some more because both sides have a good view that I find interesting. Im sure that you know this but its always good to have the other side be heard. I also have got to the point of not wanting to hunt with a gun but with a camera, THAT BEING SAID I just got my rifle out of the gunsmith shop having it rebuilt. For ME NOW ITS MORE OF A TROPHY hunt I would like to have my name in the books for more than just KILLING AND ELK AND DEER every year for many years. Game meat around our house is as plentiful as burger in the store.

I dont believe you understand!

Crazy Horse, and Grizzly, I have never seen a legal game animal killed just for horns, hide skull, etc and the meat and hide left to rot!!!!! I dont know what your experiences may be? Maybe you've seen that and quit hunting for that reason?

Permitted hunting, in season has been highly regulated for as long as I have been a resident. More than 40 years! In my neck of the woods, you would loose your rifle, truck and any gear associated with an illegal kill or waste of game!!! Colorado wildlife law REQUIRES all useable portions of an animal be carried out by the hunter and utilized or donated (That requires a donation slip!). Every game animal is required to be properly handled so that useable portions of the animal will not spoil.

Personally, I'd LOVE to have one more trophy Elk rack to hang on the wall. That would only be only 3 to date. The rest of my kills have been Cow Elk, doe deer and antelope.

I would also like to take a Grizz, and a Rocky Mountain Sheep and an Alaska Moose and a Caribou. And, NO! I will absolutely eat the meat.

We have Mountain Lions out the kazoo around here, but other than taking one while hiking into a fishing hole, to keep from being eaten instead? I just cant develope a taste for CAT!:-laf.

Calif has its good points

BIG

JMO, other than geography, they are very hard to see.

I have not been to the state since the late 70's, while still driving semi for my Dad, or an occasional stop at lax returning from Cabo.

It is the politics of the state that makes me cringe. BIG, forgive me, but the only state worse than washington is ca, and everytime you mention it, in your otherwise very lucid, down to earth, common sense, very entertaining post's, it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

This is just me, my issue, so do not take it personal, and please continue with your great pictures and insight. Jess

I know this is out of context of the conversation.
