My wife got the 08 Mega 2500 4x4.
I kept my good ol' 301,000 mile 12er.
I use it as a work truck. It has an ARE Camper type shell and hauls about 1000lbs of tools every day.
Friday on my way home I spotted a nice looking 3rd gen, lifted 35's or 37's, with a big exhaust pipe showing signs of plenty of fuel er soot.
We were traveling on a 4 lane divided street with plenty of signals.
This gave me a chance to pull along side at the next light.
We were side by side first in line awaitng the Green.
When it was time to go I just mashed it quickly to the floor from idle.
The 3rd gen just left me... . My 35/40 did not light up right away.
Speed limit is 40mph. and there was too much traffic to try and catch him on the top end.
The guy was probably laughing to himself "Silly 2nd Gen. "
As it turns out 2 lights later we were lined up again!
This time I knew there would be a different out come.
I dropped into 2nd gear as I approached the line.
Luckily for me He was straight piped and had no idea I was loading her up on the TC . . I was thinking to myself 10 to 15 lbs of pre boost should do it.
Don't want to Spin my 35's off the line. I have 3. 54's and posi... If they break loose they just spin like a dragster doing a burn out. (Sit and Spin)
I also have a Gibson exhaust that is nice and quiet till 2000 rpm .
Very Stealthy...
Light turns Green!
We both launched at the same time.
This time the turbo lit up and went instantly from 15 lbs to 35 lbs.
Both rears hooked up perfect as I rolled on the 370's. (injectors that is).
By the time we crossed the lines on the other side of the street (40' ?) She was at full song. 2500+ rpm ,40+ boost. When the rear tires went over the white cross walk lines on the other side they screeched for mercy.
I looked to my right and the 3rd gen was not there!
I soon backed off to avoid exceeding the speed limit by too much.
As the the 3rd gen zoomed by loudly with his 6" straight pipe ... .
At the next light I quietly pulled along side ... ... .
He rolled his window down and asked what I had in it ...
I replied laughing " 300,000 mile 12 er with a bag of chips... "
Then I said " A bigger turbo no chips. . she's all stock electrically"... ...
He gave me a big Cummins Thumbs up!
As he roared off... I queitly made my right turn towards home...
With a full charge of Adrenaline pumping through my veins... .
I love my 12 valve!!!
