The headline should have been "KOA turns overpriced RV spots into an even higher priced resort destination in the absolutely cheapest way possible while skirting expensive traditional problems encountered when building a resort hotel!" Somewhere in the shareholder value notes "Using a inexpensive quick to set up tent instead of costly to build cabins or resort style hotel building saved us a pile of cash and we still can charge a profitable premium price..." Besides it would have taken us years to build a resort hotel with non-stop NIMBY, other permit delays, and like expensive problems. A risky investment in a hotel or new cabins is simply avoided. Also we are noting we feel the scarce land in this area is now simply too valuable to leave as just an RV campground/resort. Soon we will be raising the price of the remaining RV spots in the area...

We’ve seen much of the same here. Nice Hot Springs Resort had a great RV Campground. We used to go several times a year. The a cabin got built in one spot, then another, then another. They realized they could rent 1 room cabins for $125 a night year round rather than $50 a night for an RV on a seasonal basis.

Too bad. We used to enjoy camping there and using the Hot Springs and the restaurant there.
Even with camping fees, hot springs pass, 1 nights restaurant dinner and fuel for 2.5 hours drive each way, it still cost about $500 for a weekend.

We’re yard camping tonight.

Sold the TT we bought new in 2012 today and camping in the new to us 5th wheel as a shake down run.

Was bittersweet to see the TT go. We camped, nearly all boondocking, as many as 45 nights a year in it with the kids. Lots of memories. More to make in the 5th wheel.

The 5th wheel is the same brand and year, just a few upgrades like thermal pane windows, 8 cu ft fridge, and just overall different layout.

Camping Nachos!!

Our 39’ Cedar Creek Touring Edition is a 2011. But, it’s in minty condition.
I love the Mobile Suites but they run a little too heavy for my CCSB SRW.
Ours runs 15,500 lbs. Whats your weigh?

Ours weighs a little over 21KLbs. There are times I wished we had one of the rigs that could be towed with a SRW truck. I really liked Carriage Domani, produced years ago and even towable by a 2500.

EDIT: Where I made an error was years ago when we purchased a Travel Supreme, we had a washer/dryer (separates) that spoiled us (mostly my wife). Now, can't even look at anything that doesn't have them... BTW, we both hate laundry mats.

They are nice though!

Cheers, Ron

My friends just sold a Carri-Lite that was made when Carriage was Carriage. It was a darn nice fiver.

YES! I looked at those too. Very nice design. Well appointed.
this was our last 5th wheel. FR Cardinal. Sold it because we thought we were getting out of camping for a while. Then the Cedar Creek we have now fell in my lap for too good of a price to turn down.

Our Cedar Creek. Has the Splendide combo W+D. Haven’t used it yet.
We don’t go out for extended camping. Not full timers. It’s nice to have the dryer for wet bathing suits though.

Wow, very nice. I love the paint on these using automotive paints. My thinking is purchase or lease a spot on or near a lake to semi permanently park the MS and buy a Super Class C to finish out our RV travel days. There is a company converting Ram 5500s into Super Cs, but don't have even the Splendide washer/dryer combo.

RV’s have been a bit of a hobby for me. When the Canadian dollar was better, I would search out good deals in the spring in the US, fly down, buy and drive them back to BC. I would fix anything needed, update the electronics, use them for the summer and sell them in the fall to Snowbirds. Started with 2 Gassers, then 4 Diesel Pushers, then switched to 3 5th wheels. All in ten years. LOL! Makes my wife crazy! Neighbors never understand what the heck is going on!
This is them in order.

The last 3 years, we leased a lot right on the river 45 minutes from home. It was nice to just load up some groceries, a few clothes, lots of liquid spirits and head out for the weekend every weekend. We didn’t keep the lease as it seemed we had 2 seasons...Mosquito Season and Forest Fire Smoke Season. We felt it was time to travel again and now we have Corona Virus Season.
Oh well...we’ll have to spend it at home. We have a pool so not to tough to take.

If you go Super C, it's Renegade.

Renegade, Dynamax, and Haulmark have great Super Cs on Freightliner platforms, but the same problems arise as when I was considering a Freightliner Sport Chassis RV toter... the cabs are tall and hard(er) to get in and out of. My mobility is OK, but even considering installing motorized steps on my Ram 5500 to help entry and exit. But, right now, Vivian pretty much loves the MS, so that's what we have for now.

Nice rigs though and much preferred over class A's and busses...less injury in a frontal crash in a Super C than a bus.

Thanks, Ron
