Open Road Travel Trailers

Hi--I am traveling from Denver on a Vacation. I'm looking hard at hotels in Glenwood Springs but they are very overpriced. Any helpful recommendations? what Do you all recommend? I will be leaving from the Denver area with a LANCE Camper but need to pit stop in Glenwood. (We live in OK so this is "wife directed" that we get a room). We want to hang out at the pool, I was just amazed at the prices they were asking for a room!! Any and all suggestion's welcome?

Thanks Dave

I really can't help with getting a room, but if you decide that you'd rather camp, we have stayed at Rock Gardens CG at No Name (really), which is about 3 miles or so up the canyon from the pool. It's right on the river, and near the UP tracks that KatDiesel is so fond of. It's not too bad and would recommend it.

Here are some pics of the canyon.

If you are into bicycling, bring it along as there is a great trail the full length of the canyon.

Have a ball and enjoy the pool.

Homerdog:

They are pretty proud of their motels there in Glenwood. There are several farther west on I -70 frontage road(still in town a mile or so west of the springs) They are no name types that aren't quite as bad but for the life of me cant think of any of the names except one which is silver spruce inn I think. Never stayed in it but have heard that it is ok. There are several right in row there.

Thanks guys--that's exactly the info I was looking for. Klenger--Thanks for the pics--We are planning on staying at that campground now as it is way cheaper that the rooms there. Take care...

Enjoy your visit. The pool is fantastic. Too far from Tuscon, but such is life. There is parking for oversized vehicles and campers on the west end of the facility. Just a short walk to the front door to the pool. It's a good idea to pack a small cooler with beverages and snacks as they are kind of proud of them at the pool also. Several nice resturants within a short walk also.

I have a little known place for you and the wife to go if you feel like being adventurers, and its free.

The Hotel pool has a large drain pipe that dumps into the Colorado river. The Springs have to have an exit for the water flow. At the main exit the Interstate is elevated. If you walk under the overpass the Colorado River is right next to the ramps.

The river side is steep and rocky but there is a little trail that goes down to three Jacuzzis that locals built out of rock each lower than the other. The lowest one you can lay in and the Colorado is flowing two feet from you. Try this in November!

Word of warning. At night these tubs are clothing optional. Was introduced to this by some very friendly locals. It's been about 7 years ago since I worked there so I hope things haven't changed too much. Spent 4 months at the Ramada Inn at that exit and was the best work assignment I've ever had with the scenery, fishing and friendly folks.
