March 16th North Carolina Meeting

RMTDR guys injector install

BillH has gotten approval for GLTDR to use facilities at Macomb Community College for a BOMB session on March 23, 2002. This event will be limited to fifty people, so speak up early, so we can count you in.

We will have access to the Automotive Lab and one drive-on hoist that is large enough to lift our trucks for 7½ hours, beginning at 8 am.

Several of the college automotive instructors wish to attend to see what we're all about, to see true shade tree mechanics in action, and to find out that DIESEL is the ONLY real engine :)

We will have grill burnt hotdogs to satisfy your round little bellies too.

I'm starting this campaign a little early, but I'll be gone to Florida for most of February and won't be able to get it started then, when I should.

The college is located in Michigan, north east of Detroit. We will give better directions when it gets closer to time for the event.

You can count da Yooper in Doc. I've only been back to Macomb once since I graduated from their auto department in '90.

Is Stan Urban or Al Pribish (instructors) planning on attending?

I'll see if I can sneak some venison out of the wife's stash in the freezer so we can do some kabobs.

P. S. Still working on the UP ride, just got the maps from the DNR, hopefully will be able to talk to you before March.

I think I can work it in, I would like to have someome check out my Cummins who really knows what they are doing:rolleyes: Anyone else going to be coming over from west MI ? Maybe a convoy ? Have the coffee on too it will be a long day for me

Kyle:D

Paul, Al Pribish retired two years ago, Stan Urban is still here and is one of the instructors who will be attending. Were you a CAP Student?

BillH

Bill,

Sure am. CDAP IV, graduated spring of '90.

Kyle,

Do you want me to bring tools to check you pump timing?

Gotta go wife's got dinner on.

Later

CrewCabDiesel - Fern and Dave, who live in Allegan, plan to be there. I think they want to make it a long weekend, and maybe bring the 5er over.

Sounds great Paul - Looking forward to seeing you again.

Doc

Id most likely leave early sat around 5am, If I brought my 5th where would I park it ? the camp grounds don't open until late april.

Kyle

PS, You bet, bring the timing tool along !!!!

timing tool

My tool is the longer VW version that allows the timing to be set without removing the lines, just have to move the #1 line out of the way slightly. Also have the Miller enginge barring tool. Wish I could say I had the set for the second gens too but couldn't get my hands on one before I left the dealership. Now they won't even talk to me because I'm the competition.

Are we going to be able to sign tools out of the tool crib? Need to know how much of my tool box to pack into the truck.

I'm going to try and bring some marinated venison kabobs for the grill, someone want to bring some veggies to go with them?

I think, with the instructors there to watch us, we might be able to borrow a few tools, but I carry a full complement of tools, so we shouldn't have any problems in that department.

Anyone who wants to check their fuel pressure can use the gauge I carry as well.

I just got an email from a ChrisR and he'd like help installing a gauge set at that time.

CrewCab - I don't know when the Algonac State Park opens, but it's a favorite spot around here and is always packed in the warmer months.

There's also a private campground in Algonac called the Riverview Campground. I'll post more information, if you want it.

Doc

Paul, it has been asked that we bring our own tools, but, I am sure we will be able to open the tool crib if necessary.

I will have some tools with me, including the new torque wrenches that Santa brought me.

BillH

I got email saying that Lawdog will show and and Big Red Express will be there, with two bodies. Looks like we're on a roll! :D

Doc

Here are some tools that I can bring along.

-Fuel Pressure gauge and adapter for a 12v.

-Delivery valve socket for a 12v

-Gauge and line long enough to check transmission pressures

-Socket to remove rear wheel nut - if anybody has leaky rear axle seals

This is the list of tools I have purchased that are specific to my Cummins. I can bring them along if anybody needs them.
