2006 TS Performance Outlaw Diesel Race ON!!

louisville big rig show

Its almost 3 am, Ive finished reading all the posts and had some grub.

Lastnight I ran into a fellow GLTDR member by the name of "Larry Johnson" aka Larry Allen (sp?) on GLTDR. He isnt a member of TDR but watches it as a guest. He has been to quite a few meets and was at IRP, Muncie, 131, sheids, etc... This has brought to my attention to check gltdr.org well it comes up to "page cannot be found" then it came up as a Google Search but no actual webpage.

What is the future of GLTDR? Ive since peeled off my decal, no contact for a 10. 00 yearly due etc. .

Id like to see GLTDR jump up again, some new advertising, webpage updates, all that good stuff. Have all the old members given up? what did they leave behind?

Im guessing IRP would be a good place to advertise since muncie was started as a GLTDR meet if im correct?

I Think Chaz Has Some Stuff On This And Has Talked To Some People About This Ie; Same Name, New Name, Dues, Webs, Maybe We Can Talk About It More At Saturdays Meet.

dust/dirt from the gravel roads and neglect to wash the truck often, turned it a off white. I had one guy ask what the GLTDR was, I was upset to tell him its a great site that stems off of TDR. I gave him the website but told him that the site was down but to keep checking in (site problems at the time it would kick you to TDR)

The web site has been a problem for over a year. I don't have anything to do with the web site. At the last online meeting we had it was discussed to move the site to a different server. I haven't heard from anyone what the results were on that move and forget who had a freind with the room to host the site.

I did just get off the phone with the ex secretary of the club who has a copy of the web site and he told me he hasn't heard from anyone that wanted to set the site up somewhere else than it is now and then take care of the site. Now he (the previous secreatry) is going to try and set the web site up on another server tonight. We will see how it goes.

I for one being the treasurer of the GLTDR have had no contact whatsoever from the new president or secretary. I don't have a clue what is going on and get no emails about set meetings. I would try to get in touch with the president to see what is going on and what is planned for the future. And, if someone wants to take over my position as the treasurer that would be fine with me as long as the president and secretary agree to the person who wants it.

here we are with lack of communication. i wondered what was happening with the site too. at the last meeting we didnt get anything accomplished. we need to set another online meeting and see if we can get some participation. im sure Chaz and i will be speaking about things this weekend. hope to see everyone there this weekend.

David, do you want out or do you want to keep with this and see what happens?

Mark I don't have a problem with the way things are but there has been NO communication to me about anything going on. I set the online meetings up in the past because we did not have an active president. I expected to be contacted by a post in this forum or by email if there was a set time for an online meeting so I could attend. So far I have not been notified about an online meeting or if there has been one. My schedule is busy right now and I don't have time to come into the chat room just to see if anyone is there.

I know Dennis (the outgoing secretary) sent a pm to someone about some things and it took a month for the person to get back with him. I don't know who he treid to contact but in my mind that is not acceptable.

As far as the treasurer job I don't have a problem with staying on until the 2007 year rolls around but if anyone wants change I am not against that either. I have nothing against the club and it hasn't been that long since elections, but I really don't see any change. It is the same as in the past. If the club wants to be a Michigan only club then that is the way it needs to go.

Sorry for the rant, but this is the only place to accomplish club business at this time. .

David

No rant just the truth!

As I am a member of the GLTDR I do not know anything. Do we still have meeting? Is the club still a club? Who would know?

My E-Mail box remains void of any mail from the GLTDR.

I get more mail from the SETDR than from my own club.

The club as it it currently configured is almost completly void of leadership. so what's the next step make it as David suggests a Mich only club?

By the way just who is the Pres,VP,SEC,I know who the tres is.

Would it be best just to let it Expire i(DIE)in a timley way? Sombody please say something. Somebody please make a decision

no problem David. i was wondering why there hasnt been any meetings set lately. i will be seeing Chaz tomorrow. are you available at all tomorrow. we could get togethor by phone. i dont necessarily think it needs to be a michigan only club. we have a bunch of guys in ohio that get togethor fairly regularly. i am kind of in the middle of both groups of guys. we are having a gltdr get togethor tomorrow. i am trying to put on togethor for may. i would be willling to come to something out your way. i will be at irp. but i would try to make it to something in illinois if i can plan it ahead.

Tod, I am the secretary. protwinturbo99(chaz) is president.

lets get a meeting together.

Mark at this time I don't have any plans on going to IRP even though I would like to. I will be in Terre Haute in August at the Scheid Extravaganza. I will be home most of the day tomorrow. I will PM you my contact numbers.

David

David please let me know what is going on. Please

It sounds as if the club is turning into a Mich,Ohio club? Do I read the signs wrong?

Well im one of those ohio guys. I dont see the GLATDR becoming just a mich, ohio club if the is the case then well we already have it. We had two very good weekend meets last year and more this year. I wiuld like to see this take off and have a centeral meet this summer. We drive 5 to 6 hours for the meets last year with the camper.

Tod, I have the feeling that the club will do fine but it will take some time. I as well as many don't have the resources to travel many hours many times a year for things that may be setup through the club. We do need a place to meet at least once a year that is central or as central as can be for a meeting of members to talk about all the things the club wants or needs to do. As I stated before it is going to take some time, but I think we can work something out. Indianapolis is fairly central to a lot of the members (at least members in the past) so we might be able to set something up in that area.

My problem this year is getting time to do much of anything. I have to sometime this year get together with my siblings to see what is going to happen with my parents things as they have passed away and my brother is taking care of their property at this time. I have no idea when this may happen so I have to keep my vacation time open and some money tucked away for the trip. My parents place is in Florida so that is a trip in itself just to get there and back. I don't have the luxury of taking just any days off. One week (monday through friday) is what I can take at a time and only if no-one else has that week off that works with me in the shop, so it gets a little frustrating to figure things out as the vacation schedule can change at any time.

Well, enough of that. I am going to sit back and see what transpires as what I have tried to setup in the past didn't seem to pan out. I need a lot of lead time to get things worked out on days off.

GLTDR or Chaz's Diesel club

MY understanding has been (and feel free to correct me if Im wrong) PART of the diminishing of the GLTDR was due to Geography. Its spread out too far. This HAS been an issue and probably always WILL be an issue. That said, I personally dont mind driving 5-6 hours to meet up with the group of guys that we meet up with. Im sure some drive as far or even further than that. Grahpic Man drives down from Canada (not sure how many kilo meters that is LOL) It seems like EVERY MEET there is a GREAT turnout. Especially in the summer, it is a very active group and I would put it up against ANY other TDR chapter.

I agree there needs to be more communication and more of the clerical aspect of GLTDR. But in all fairness, Ive been reading posts about "should the GLTDR survive" and such. CHAZ stepped up to the plate and is trying to rebuild this to make it great again. There are other members that can post meetings, greets, ideas, ect. GLTDR is a group of guys... . not Chaz.

The majority of the people that come up are Ohio, MI people. we WELCOME ANYONE to come to these meets from any state or country.

Like most guys,TDR and my Cummins truck is my hobby. I still have to take care of my family, work, ect. and I know Chaz is in that group. This simply means if you have an issue shoot him a PM. HELP HIM HELP US. I think that would be more constructive than tearing down an entire chapter. Thoughts?

The site will be put onto another server sometime. I just don't know when and who is going to do it. I have NOTHING to do with the web site. I have to rely on others as do most of the rest of the group. I am sure it will be worked out in the future. I just don't know how long it is going to take. I have stated in the past that I think there is something wrong with Ian's (the starter of this thread) computer as I have no problems accessing the web site as it sits right now.

I agree that there should be local meets in members areas. I have said that all along. We are one spread-out group and we need key members in areas so we can have the local gatherings and then we can plan to get the whole group (if that was possible!) together once a year. We still have to work some things out and the web site is just a thorn in our sides that needs to be addressed asap IMO.

David

I just now went to the club's site and got the front page. I then clicked on chat and logged in and all was well. I was chatting to myself lol. Sorry Ian, I don't know what to think of your situation.

David, both the laptop and stand up wont allow me on the site. some days it will and some days it wont. Ive only been able to get on the chat last month when I was at my gf's house. Im still in the gray on my technical issues

I didnt mean to cause a uproar on the thread but after talking to a GLTDR member tuesday night It just kinda got me going about the future on the club so I decided to make a solid thread on where it will go and the decisions to be made.

I think we all just need to step up and have a day sometime where everyone can meet and have a meeting on what to do about the next step. The monthly chat meetings are good but some seem to wonder on the topic at hand then its forgotten and were back to where we started. Maybe a meeting on TDR's site if the GLTDR is unavailable?

What exactly do we have for the club? I know a site but what do we have for dues or items?

website fees?

any shirts left?

hitch covers?

(screen prints or plans for Hitch covers) saved at a store?

Banners?

Just curious to see what we can capitalize on. Heck If we could find a t-shirt/decal Id pay good $ to help fund the club.

Ian

Ian, I for one don't have a clue why your computers at home don't want to cooperate. I am not a computer repair person even though I have done a lot with my computers, I really don't know what I am doing!

We have in the past had people that volunteered to get t-shirts and polo shirts made up. Someone in Indianapolis made up the decals. That one was set up by the last president of the club.

Anyone can step up and have these made and sell them through the web site once it is up and going on another server. In the past the one who volunteered to get them done sold them at their cost or at least close to it. It was not funded through the club.

As far as what you get for the dues, the web site does cost money and beyond that the club used to get-together and the club would fund a dinner for all the members who showed up----within reason of course. It does take a while to get the bank account caught up when there may only be 10-20 paying members a year. I will not put in this thread what we have in the bank, but it could be wiped out fairly quickly if not used properly.

We need to set up a meeting for the club members and when I say meeting, it has to have order to it and not just one or the other jumping in with comments. The way the meetings used to be run (rules) are printed on the page that you sign up on to get in the chat room. I wonder if anyone has taken the time to read the rules???? It has been a long time since we had a "club meeting" so no-one is used to holding a real meeting. By that I mean a business meeting with a purpose that is run by the president or someone appointed by the president to discuss club agenda and things to think about for the future.

It doesn't come down to one person to decide what the club is going to do or not do, but it does comes down to one person to get things organized and rolling and that is what the presidents job is. Almost everything that is wrong with the club at this point is a dire lack of communication!!!! We have to fix that and I am not the one to do it. I don't want the job as I don't have the time or energy to run with it.

Does this shed a little light on the subject or does it make the water even muddier??? Sometimes what I want to say just doesn't come out right :(

These are my opinions and others opinions may differ so please don't slam me for putting on this page a little bit of info that I have knowlege of.
