Happy Hemi day!

purchased a used Ram 3500

What is interesting in the article is that it talks about the Duramax but no mention of a gas engine offering. From what I have been seeing out in the field, the Ford F450-F650 gas offering is making quite an appearance lately in low mileage, vocational type applications. I'd be shocked if GM didn't follow suit.

In my opinion, none of the gas options of the big three are big enough for a truck this size, especially the F-650/750. Bring back the 534/549 of the old days:D

They don't even make enough power for a modern 3500 pulling for a living. On the other hand, I see more and more fleet and municipal one tons with gas motors. I can understand why. Between initial cost, fuel and def cost vs gas even figuring mileage, and maint costs,( even before emissions problems) gas makes sense for a lot of applications. I know one septic contractor who's gone gas in several 4500 Rams and can't wait to get rid of the rest of his midsize diesels in favor of gas 5500s. He says diesel isn't worth the trouble and expense sence tier 4 emissions. I will admit, if one of the mfgs built a srw with an 8+ liter gas motor that made 600lbs of torque I wouldn't spend the extra for a diesel that it costs in today's market. When I bought my first Cummins pickup in 92 I figured break even for the added expense at 100,000 miles. I'm not sure I'll break even at 400,000 with my 15.

Once you drive a Cummins it is hard to go back to gassers. But yes, if you don't tow, the small gas rigs are probably just fine, local delivery or utility use.

I heard a rumor Ford was going to scrap the V-10 in favor of a 7.3 V-8 in 2020.

I heard about this truck, in fact my acquisition section is considering this as the next baby spreader- replacing the F550. It'll be diesel though.

Don't forget about LP gas, FCCC is offering the revamped 8.0 L GM Propane V8 as an option...others may follow suit...
