GM 4L80e stand-alone control?

OK, so I sold my '01 Cummins last night. I'm looking at a '98 crew cab chevy with a locked up diesel engine for cheap. It has the 4L80e automatic. I have an older model 454 sitting in my garage that would work very well in this aplication. My concern is getting the transmission to shift without the OEM computer control. If I pull the locked up engine and drop in my carburated rat, will the factory transmission computer work without input from the engine computer or will it require a stand-alone controller?

you will have to hook up the ignition as the tran soilinoids are turned on with the confirmation of the ignition signal you will have to get a throttle postion sensor also then you should be good to go. rod

I'm running a CompuShift unit for my 56 chevy. I believe TCI has one also, but you need a laptop to setup. The unit I have is stand alone.

i run mine stand alone w/o a controller mine is behind an isuzu 4bd2t diesel and i had to drill my harmonic ballancer and glue magnets in it and run a msd crank trigget for the pickup but it works great.
