hello bogo, since no one has answered you,i will. first off,the best place for some no bs info on the 6. 2 or 6. 5 engines,is the gm diesel page, its a great site and the people over there are less likely to scold you for the mere mention of a different brand, some sites i cant say the same for. anyway,i have had great results from the 6. 2 and 6. 5 engines, the 6. 5 was derived from the 6. 2,however other than being lower on power,i feel the 6. 2 is the better engine. the 6. 5 came out in 92,92 and 93 were not computerized and had a better track record. 94 and up had computerized injector pumps on them, the pumps were good units, but the computer stuff on them did not handle the heat from the engine very well. problems such as hard starting,no starting, stalling and overfueling were possible. the engines were easy to work on and cheaper also. i have seen many go 300k with few,if any problems, and a couple with 400k+ on them. i personaly have 180k on my 93 model 1 ton and 120k on another 96 model one ton. the 93 has been trouble free, the 96 has had a injector pump put on it. i also have a 82 3/4 ton with the 6. 2 and a turbo, the trk made 360k before its first rebuild. the engines respond well to minor mods, but sucessful heavy bombing will require engine upgrades. 350hp is possible with these engines. i have worked my trucks on a daily basis, and they have done me well, however if you are into serious heavy towing on a regular basis,a ford or dodge diesel will serve you better...
