Why not a torque war? I see bigger improvments in the horsepower area then I do the torque area. When will these guys figure out that torque is where it's at with these trucks? I would rather have something like the ISC with 300hp and 860ft/trq!! Oo.

The way I see it, we've got plenty of power and torque in the 3/4 and 1T trucks. If you need more torque/hp/load capacity, it's time to step up into the medium duty trucks. You want to carry a bunch of weight, you need some beef in your frame and rear end that a 1 ton truck just doesn't have. What we DO need, is a transmission that can stand up to all the torque we do have, sans a lot of "torque management. " Hopefully, the two new trannies in the 07s will answer the mail. For Pete's sake, the B5. 9 is a medium duty truck engine. You can put it in a 2T and slap a 9sp Roadranger in behind it, and pull a heavy load, piece of cake.

That thing is ulgy, but what I can't understand is why the big 3 are playing a horsepower war with diesels? Why not a torque war? because torque is what will break stuff. 650 ft lbs is not weak!!

take the mighty allison or torqshift and put 860 ft lbs in front of it and then 25,000# trailer behind it and see what will happen.
