The power and performance of the newer DEF trucks is awesome. The DEF is not the hassle you think it is. two or four jugs a year is all I go through depending how much towing I do.
I had a 98.5, then a 2001, and I did some mild bombing to both. They would make me proud every time I put them to work. I've had my '09 for a year, have deleted it and added a tuner, and I think it's a great truck. I spent several years learning all I could about 2nd gens, and I'm in the process of doing the same with this 3rd gen. TDR is a great resource.
I am on my 7th Dodge Cummins PU. I am also a diesel hot rod guy (been tractor pulling for years) SO 6 of those Cummins engines have been modified to tow better.. THE 7th (the 2013) has 46,000 towing miles on it and is BONE STOCK..... I am very happy with the new truck. The DEF that I feared so much has turned out to be a non issue for me.
