I know, I know!!

will a 245/75/17 fit my 05 (stock) dually-no problem??

and is it any taller than my stock 235/85/17--and maybe fill the wheel well better??

Am going with the Firestone Transforce-AT---

they offer the 235/80/17 or 245/75/17

Dunno on the fitment... but I had the Transforce tires before... didn't last for crap... Michelin's last WAY longer.

It's your call... just my input ;)

Try these:

Hope this helps.

I made the mistake of doing this with my 99. They work fine while the truck is empty, but when I had it loaded down with the trailer (tt) and the truck bed full they would rub when hitting bumps. Those were 16's though.

I believe the offset on the 17's are a bit more forgiving, with respect to clearence while loaded. If they work they will help out your torque due to your 3:73. 1 gearing. If you can find a tire dealer that will mount them and take them back go check the clearence with the truck loaded.

Side note.....

They looked really good on the front. Their wider but not as tall as the 235-80/17's.

I run 255/80R17 tires on my dually, stock rims. I would love a slightly taller tire or another gear after 6th. I was unable to find any other tire than the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2. They are more aggressiv than I wanted, but are super quiet and are doing great.

Just to say thanks to everyone who replied.

I went with stock size 235/80/17-E

Firestone Transforce AT

Got Discount Tire, to pretty much match a on-line price--I used this outfit for price, better than tirerack, and some others!

Thats the tire size and brand im running. Some are saying they only get in the 45k range for tread life. Mine have been on since Feb 07, and ive got 60K on them. Ive been rotating them every 10K since they were new.

I have plenty of tread left, it's just the side walls are showing small cracks#@$%!. Im going to remove them this Feb regardless of how much tread is left. They have been an excellent tire if it werent for the cracking side walls.

FWIW I got 55K miles on my Transforce AT's. That's with a lot of towing and heavy hauling. Good tires. Quiet and balanced with very little weight.
