Charity Dyno Day - Thanks to everyone!

Update!

Alright. Here's the scoop so far.

Camping will be available at the Skip-A-Way resort in Clermont. You can call them at (800)728-1167. They have 30 spots available to us for the weekend. Right now, the price is $21/night for full hook-ups (with a $2 surcharge for those who want to run A/C)and $14/night for no hookups. They are reserved under the name "Amusement Ride". This is a Good Sam park so if you have a membership, the rates will be lowered. If you want to become a member they'll get you taken care of. I have the spots somewhat centrally located so we can shmooze after the events of the day are done. Just an FYI, if we fill all 30 we will get a pretty good discount.

As for the events, Friday will be setup (for me) and registration. Saturday, we will start trucks on the dyno at 8:00am. We will run to 5:00pm with a break at 12 for 30 minutes for lunch. Contests for the dyno competition will end by 5:00. We will still be able to run on the dynos on Sunday from 8:00 to 2:00. But since the competitions will be over, they won't count for the prizes (obviously).

If you're not going to dyno, there will be a few contests that will be done for fun. Sort of along the lines of the Divorce Derby (obsitcle course), some of you have participated in before. There will be prizes for these events also.

On Saturday night, I would like to have a pot luck at the campground. The one we had last time was great (Linda, you need to bring those special brownies you made. UFF DA!). I would like to break down the food requests like this. Minnesotans, bring deserts (except the aforementioned Linda :D ). Iowegians, we get to bring side stuff. Salads, veggies, chips, etc. 'Sconnies are relegated to hot dishes (do you think they'll all bring vienna sausages?). Of course these are only guidelines. If there's something you really want to bring, or you're really famous for, then by all means. Just don't spend too much on it. I think $20 per dish would be a fair maximum.

I am working on some auctions, but for now I don't have any. I will have a couple of items to 'raffle' off. After we're back at the campground. All the contest winners will be announced at the dinner also. Drawings for prizes will be held at the end.

I am working on trophies, but we'll have to wait and see.

One final thing. As you can see, there is a ton of stuff that will be going on. I need volunteers to help me. More specifically, I need people to help load and unload the dynos, run the derby, video documentation, and some other miscellaneous stuff. Please let me know if you can volunteer. You don't have to do it all day, but please let me know so I can make sure I have enough people to make this thing run smooth. Thanks.

If anyone has questions, please post them. We'll try to get them answered as soon as we can. Hope to see you there.

So, I have the diesel but you want my wife to come because of her brownies??

I'll let her know. I might be able to convince a friend and his wife to come. He has a Dodge but it's a gasser, this will help his conversion.

If I have time to get my 913 swapped before hand I can help for a while Aron. Swapping the pump would make a nice Friday nite project if I need to. I have a Twin Ram I'd like to do a before and after test on but that could be a Saturday night or Sunday morning deal too.

Do you need help setting up on Friday? When are you planning on getting there?

Do you know if us tent campers can double up on the camp sites?

I'll be able to lend a hand

I'll be able to lend a hand. This will be my first weekend of a two week trip, so I probably won't dyno. I think the truck will get enough flogging pulling the TT for a couple of weeks. I just don't know if I'll make it there Friday night, or early Saturday morning yet.

I am planning on taking Friday off from work so that I can get everything all set up at Dave's shop. The portable dyno is the one that will need to be set up. The skill challenges will be set up Saturday Morning. I shouldn't need any help setting up Friday night. Actually, I should be ready for pre-registration Friday when people start arriving.

Eric, if you want to, you can officiate the skill contests. I think that'd be a hoot.

Who's gonna videotape stuff? Anyone?

I cant commit to anything just yet, but if I can make it, you will have my help. BTW, I'll ship your torx back tomorrow.

If you want, I'll do some videotaping and take some digital stills. I'll burn the stills for you at the campground so you can post them right away. Video might take a little longer.

Quitting my job and going to Tech school. ;)

Are you in at MN West Jeff? :) Heck yeah!!! :D Gonna be a heck of a year there! :-laf

Just don't get caught doing a burnout there! :D Let's just say whenever they saw two sets of two tire marks, they had a pretty easy guess it was me. Only dually in the school. Took the CTD out on the fairly fresh tar in the parking lot after we cranked the starwheel and stretched the overflow valve spring in the Fuel Injection semester of the course. Hard to believe, but it definately gave it a kick in the butt. The teacher must have noticed the marks later after class was over. Hehehe, I ended up getting a short lecture and I was told that I was one more burnout away from a phone call to the local police. I had the dual 235's a smoking and the back-end fishtailing in between the rows of vehicles! Sucks that I had to let off but it was getting out of control and I was heading towards a Ford. :-laf

I'm out.

What the heck Trevor. Yer having way too much fun. Just tell them you fixed your truck and it runs better. I ended up dropping from MN West. Going to a different one closer to home. All related to medium and heavy trucks. They have two Dodge Cummins trucks for the medium heavys. I'll show them some bombs.

I don't think I'll be down at Goerend's this year.

Hehehe, my truck did run a lot better right after we did that. It seemed like the wow factor was just there for that day though. Maybe the overflow valve collapsed back on me after that day though. I had it checked over in Watertown when my pump was on the bench and it showed to be good so who knows... .

I don't know if this year is going to be as fun or not. A lot of my buddies that I had fun with graduated this past year of school. It sucks that I took Auto Tech for one year or else I would have graduated with them. Oh well, got a few diesel owners to mess around with. One has a Ford with a 6. 9 I think and the other has a Chevy with a 6. 2L. I think that's all the diesels that were there from the first year guys last year. Oh, one did have a early 2nd gen 3500 with a 5. 9 but he isn't into too much on them since it's his dads truck. He had it there a few times last year. But my Cummins buddies graduated last year. One had a nice, clean '93 W-250 X-Cab Long Box with a manual trans and the other had a bunch of them including a sweet 1st gen with huge stacks but his main truck was a '97 2500 4x2 5spd with really tall stacks. They were both into very mild bombing like injectors, gauges, and aneroid adjustments. It ain't gonna be the same with them not there. Towards the end of the year we kind of picked on each other about mods and stuff to the point that the one guy subscribed to the TDR. Must have been impressed with my sudden knowledge of my truck. ;)

I do know my truck has a lot more power now and i'm a little more gutsier too. I think I better hold off on the high-boost brake stands though until my trans is taken care of. I am contemplating stacks though. Should be good for the wow factor, with the increased smoke than before now. Still not enough smoke though. Pretty clean burning after the 40+ lbs of boost kicks in. The dark haze is just enough that you can see the pattern coming out of the tailpipe with the pedal to the metal down the road.

Good luck in your new venture Jeff! ;)

Tmaas,

Andy,

I go to school over at MN West in Canby, just west of Marshall and just east of the SD border into Clear Lake SD. My sister went up to Ridgewater in Willmar. I live about an hour and fifteen or an hour and a half south of Willmar. If i'm not mistaken I think you talked to my brother at Muncie maybe, maybe even partied with him. He had a black '02 Ford F350 Sport that smokes pretty good.

Tmaas,

you gotta come party up in willmar this year as i will come down to party, or just to mess with gassers. yea i know who your bro is now yea he left his keys in the box of someones truck and they drove off but he got them back. you should come down to the dyno event or come pull fridaynight, it will be a good time.

This sounds like a lot of fun.

If I came down with an A-pillar/Pyrometer kit, would someone be willing to help me install it?

I don't think finding help will be a problem. You might get too much!
