Fass Questions

2005 banks wastegate

I have made an appointment to have a Goerend transmission and triple disc TC installed. I am pretty sure I won't need billet shafts, but I am just curious what would they cost? If it wasn't too bad I might consider it.

Dave would have to give you the prices for sure and his personal opinion since he is the builder but I have been told to only go with the input and intermediate billet shafts because then the weak point becomes your output shaft and if that breaks you raise less hell inside. I think I was quoted 700 for the input and 500 for the intermediate shaft. One thing for sure though... you will not be dissapointed in Daves transmission! I purposely bought an auto truck recently just to have him build it for me. I guess it helps that Im only 30 minutes from him too. Ive had many non Dodge trannies rebuilt there and NEVER one issue with them.

Chris

The price Chris mentioned was pretty close to what he quoted me.

I don't have any billet in my transmission. Just new OEM shafts. Knock on wood, I haven't broken one yet. Even with a couple of 15-20# launches, just out goofing off, or showing someone how well the transmission works. :D

Dyno'd 363hp and 793tq this past weekend.

Been VERY happy with Dave's transmission. Still prefer a handshaker, but it is a great trans.

Goerend Tran's

A littel off subject, just got back from up state New York, 2600 miles on Dave's trans all I can say Is you wont regret getting it done, trans fluid is still pink and looks like new and what a pleasure to drive. This is the way these trucks should shift from the factory and I was pulling 12000lbs up & Back. Don

Thanks for the replies! I think I will be fine without the billet shafts. I was just curious about the price. I sure am looking forward to getting the new transmission and TC. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas! If it is half as good as it sounds it will be awesome.

The shafts, because the way the transmission shifts... . as long as your not hard on the throttle over RR tracks and large bumps like that, you'll be fine. TurboTweaker didn't start having any problems till around 450hp, and that was heavy foot issues.

It's better than it sounds! There is just no way to explain it!

They are very very busy. E-mail isn't the best way to get ahold of them. Between that and they are on dial up it makes it tough for them to properly deal with E-mails. Your best bet is to just call them. Even when you call, you may have to leave a message, but Dave will call you back.

just ordered a triple lock, valve body, billet input & inter shaft, billet front drum, and some other goodies from dave. i to called and left a message on a friday, he called me back on saturday. also being a speed shop owner and dealing with many major companies, i have never had customer service from any of the like i got from dave. he spent about an hour of his time talking to me on a saturday. (un-heard of in this industry)

thanks, scot

Here is Goerends brothers PH#563-778-2719 maybe you should call him instead of brow beating him on the net. Is that the way you operate  Sometimes folks don,t have time to check there e-mails. If you have every been to his shop like I was you would know how busy Dave is. When I arrived at his shop in april,he was already working at 5:30 am and did not leave until dark. coobie

Yep. It is best to call Dave. When I was there, he was handling calls a good part of the day. And also disassembling transmissions as well. He uses a cordless phone with a headset, if that gives you any indication. He's the only one that answeres the phone.

So run a business!!!!

Not browbeating - - making note that I tried to contact them, and got a message back that they had recieved and read my e-mail. If they are unable to answer e-mail than they shouldn't list an e-mail address. That is no different than having a phone number published that goes unanswered.

I am glad you are happy with their products, I won't take a chance, if I ran my business that way, I don't think I would have much business.

Most of us are busy, I answer about 50 e-mails a day, and here it is 10:45 PM on a holiday eve, and just finished taking care of business for the day. By the way, I was in my office at 0615 this AM.

If you want an example of how to run a diesel shop - - look at Ted Jannetty - - - yep! he not only answers his phone calls, but answers this e-mails, Oh - -and runs a busy and very successful business.

So I don't get the sobs for those that start early and end late, that is a fact of operating a business, a fact that millions of us underestand and those of you that work for wages, wouldn't have a clue!

Woh hold on. Yes an E-mail is listed. Have you done any research on where he is based out of? His business is the largist business in town. When you pull up to this town, you've just spent the last 30 min on 2 lane roads with no shoulders. This is SMALL town USA. Dial-up connections are pitifuly slow. If it took you 10min just to check one E-mail, you'd probably be slow getting back to people as well. The Day to day luxuries that you and I can easily have, such as a DSL line, they can't even get.

How to Run a Business 101 didn't start in Chicago or New York. I'd say with what he has available, he's doing very well.

Don't do use any internet searches, pick up a map of Iowa and try to find the town where Goerend Brothers Transmissions is based out of. I'll even give you a hint, it's in the upper right hand corner.

I am sure Ted Jannetty runs a fine business,I have heard so on this forum. Why don,t you give Goerends a call and talk to dave one on one,you might be pleasently surprised. :D coobie

I had my transmission done by Dave and was treated super. He is one busy fellow. He does super work. There is always one idiot on the forum that don't know jack sh#*. Beside that most of the fellows are super guys.

That was uncalled for. Not everyone who works for wages is totally clueless on how the business works. Albeit, some definantly are. I do, and work with customers a lot in the spring. We sell seed and herbicides, plus I haul seed for a local seed company. Setting up new sprayers is one other thing I do. If there is a problem, we'll get it taken care of.

Where Dave is at, I doubt even trying to use sattelite internet would work very well. Hilly and lots of timber. Heck, coming up from the south, you can't even see the town, til you are in it.

Don't sell Dave short because he can't get back right away with e-mail. Would be hard pressed to find a better guy to deal with. Great products as well.

As said before, call him up. He even called me back on a Saturday night from home. Could hear the kids pounding on the piano in the background. :-laf

Dave called me on a Sunday night around 11:30 to make sure I made my trip safely.

C. D. DAY, that's awesome that you seem to be the only one who understands how a business works. Oo.

Not only did Dave email me back about his way of building a trans, the email was one of the longest I've ever recieved. We were on the phone with each other 4 or 5 times. And he talked to my local builder several times. Very nice guy. Excellent products and very good prices. Wait until you feel your truck put down the power with that convertor... :D
