I am really leaning towards dave's triple disc. I spoke with him recently on the phone and he told me everything else I would have to do to the trans. Sounds like a real knowledgeable and stand up guy not trying to toot his own horn which is what I like.

Give me some feedback on your truck mods. that are using his triple disc and how you use your truck (i. e. towing, racing, etc. ),and how his triple disc works for you.

I'll probably end up around 300-350 h. p. and 700-800 torque. Is that where any of you guys are?

Thanks alot.

Jerry

I really enjoyed spending the day up there With Dave & crew. I watched every step of the TC construction, and transmission work. He explained in great detail every single step as he did it, even if it was way above my head. The price is right, and he will stand behind his work & product. I like the low stall speed, the firm shifts, and TC I just can't make slip. Mine's a daily driver, I don't abuse it, but do like to play a little. I towed 500 miles as soon as I left his shop, and it did fine. No slippage at all. I had him set aside the whole day when I made my appointment, and they had it going by 5pm. I was the only truck there that day.

JKH, I have Dave's milled stator and not the triple disk unit (not then available). However, I want to say that your perceived views about Dave G is right on target. The day of my upgrades was also identical to what Dennis posted. I feel that you will be pleased with his product.

Jerry,

I bought a complete Goerend Brothers with triple disc clutch from Dave back in July and installed everything myself. I'm not a transmission expert in any degree, but I'm a pretty good mechanic. Dave did describe what he does to the innards of the transmission to me - as he did to you - but I don't remember all the details.

It performs great, shifts firmly, no clutch slippage, lots of power at low rpms off the line. Just what you want I'd say!

As far as my truck goes, it has a Bosch plate in the pump, bigger than stock injectors (not sure, but I think they're 275s), and a 16 cm2 turbo housing. It had no trouble slipping the stock TC clutch - Dave told me it was toasted when he opened it up.

Let me know if I can help you with more.

Good luck,

Blake

I rode in one today, in a 96 3500 that should turn about 250HP. It was quite nice, smooth and solid. I have met Dave Goerend and found him to be a genuinely nice man, and a good transmission man. If his TC and VB is what you want you won't go wrong.

I have been around a while, and NEVER EVER heard a single complaint about Dave Goerend. That to me speaks volumes. The loyalty his customers give him is on par with Bill K at DTT. Hard to go wrong IMO. In the interest of fairness call the other guys and get prices and warranties etc, so you know what is what in the diesel transmission world too.

I have Dave's tripple disk and stock valve body mods in my truck and totally agree with what has been said about Dave and his shop. You won't be sorry going with his product. On the dyno after the transmission was worked on,I lost traction at 285. 8 hp and714 tq with my current setup. The truck shifts as if it was bone stock. Awesome product from a real stand up guy who goes out of his way to be honest and make you a happy customer.

Thanks for the input. Some of you guys have about the same setup i will eventually have. I have the 3K gsk. to put in(need time), and I want to get a set of stage 2 D. D. injectors(need money). I think before the injectors I will start saving for a G. B. convertor. I've been interested in them even before he started making the triple disc, and I think my mind is made up. I will have to do it myself because it is probably a 16 hour drive to his shop. I've built a chevy T. H. 350 and Dave said if I did that complete the dodge transmission will be no problem.

Dave Goerend

I boiught TC and VB from Dave last year. He sent it to me, told me to install and try it. Then send him the money!! Who else would do that??? Worked great. What a guy.

Single Disc User

I dynoed in the spring at 275 and 748 (with wheel spin). Since then I've added a 3k GSK, 181 DV's and 370 injectors. The truck is significantly quicker and still no TC slip. I'll have some real power in a week or 2 as I have a strong pump, Banks 4" sitting here and an HX-40 on the way.

(I only mention the Banks as I blew the seam out the the stock muffler on a test run the other night, the stock stuff really is restrictive!)

I'll post on the results after the next upgrades.

You go Goerend Bros.

Everyone has said everything already so no more is needed. Howewver never let it be said i didn't put in my 2c.

Had a little bit of problem when I was towing last july. I called DAve we discussed what was going on and you know what, it wasn't the transmission but the Edge Comp box.

I was pulling heavy loads of a couple old farm tractors and needless to say I was in a hurry. After about five loads I was loving it more and more. I even asked the guy I was hauling for if he wanted me to tow the load a lowboy was coming for. A Minneapolis steam engine. If I could have fit unde the overpasses I know the combination of a cummins with a GB transmission would have pulled it. Even if I have 3:54 gears!

Fantastic infomration resource. Fantastic installation service and installation personnel. FANTASTIC customer service and support.

I wish Dodge would take a few lessons from the Goerend Bros.

:D :D Oo. Oo. :D :D

Have any of you guys installed it your self?Did you have to do anything else to your transmission while you had it out? How long of a job is it?

Jerry

I did nime myself in my driveway (like everything else). For a 4x4 I would strongly recommend a trans jack as these parts are heavy. I spen about 3 nights on it, we discussed VB mods to compliment the TC and my truck and he gave me his home number in case I had problems. (I had tweeked the VB somewhat with the stock TC about a year earlier with his phone and generous parts assistance).

The TC R & R was straight forward, no surprises. In and out in about 12 hours total (flat rate is 10) over about 3 evenings.

I changed mine myself, but I bought the complete unit from Dave. No problems except for all the little usual BS like wires, cooler lines, crossmember, etc. Did have trouble with one of the studs connecting transmission to transfer case - it was corroded, so had to use a thin chisel between the cases to get them apart. Be careful with your cooler lines - I almost cross threaded one.

About a week after the install, my TV cable broke. So I had to replace that.

Good luck,

Blake
