2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 94 Brake Rebuild

Well I think its time to get rid of the not so good stock transmission which is not having too good of luck. Its had 2 rebuilds under warrenty and now its to the point where i'm sick of the truck being down and soon going to drop the money for a new one as I think this one probably doesn't have too much left in her.

After doing a lot of calling around and warrenties I think I am going to go with a Goerend Transmission but was wondering which you guys prefer to do as far as Torque Converters go. I'm not sure if I want to go with the single disk or the triple. I was talking to Dave & he said for what I want to do I could use either one.

Right now all I have done to my truck is a Smarty & possibly in the future a set of injectors. I don't tow a lot and when I do its usually (4) 4-Wheelers when a bunch of us go out riding. The truck is used as a daily driver and gets about 50 miles a day with commuting to work.

So just looking for some feedback on what you guys would do...

Thanks, Engcogod

I went with the triple as I sometimes tow 10k through the hills. Dave guarantees his converters for life anyway, so if you smoke the single you can always go for the triple later. I decided I didn't want to have to worry about having the trans pulled twice myself.

Thanx SNOKING. I was just going to say the same thing.

Everyone has their opinion. He has already made his choice.

I would go with the tripple. The small ammout of extra cost is worth the piece of mind in my opinion.

The big deal on the triple is if you have big power with low rpm(twins). The fear is that you will build boost, before the transmission has time to build TV pressure, and maybe slip the clutches. I personally would run the triple, but I have a single now that I am upgrading to the triple and the single is so smooth on lock up. The triple locks up and you know it. The reason I am going to the triple is that I might try to lock it up while truck pulling.

engcogod,I have had Dave's trans with the triple disc for about three month's now and it is like driving a new truck, you wont mind spending the money. I have an e-z and 1. 5 Don M's injectors. You will like the firm shifts and getting the power to the ground, you have made the right choice in my opinion, Don

Dave's triple here for several years :D

Empty, small trailer, big trailer/loaded, mountains :D

Talking with Dave, explaining what you may be doing in the future with your truck, and then following his advice Oo.
