Advice on use of BD exhaust brake on slow grades

I'm going to give a big thumbs up to the Dave and the Guys at Goerend Transmissions for making this job easier for me with unheard of, level of support.

I got the new converter from them last week and they thought I would be doing the trans work this weekend, and he must have called 6 times trying to reach me on SATURDAY, and even gives me his HOME PHONE NUMBER... . unfortunately I didn't do it over the weekend. But I did get it all out last night and yesterday during the day Dave wrote a 'Book' detailing every single step and trick along the way to get this out as painlessly as possible, and faxed it to me at work.

Furthermore, he sent me high dollar snap on tools that I didn't have, that were needed to get the trans apart, in pure trust that I would send them back.

I am an avid Drag Racer who spends a relatively large sum of money every year in the racing community on parts and support from probably a hundred different businesses, and NOT ONE can even come close to Goerends support because my name isn't Warren Johnson, or John Force.

So I give the big thumbs up and will keep this updated to the results of the swap.

Dave has always been willing to help in that manner. Its people like him that make this industry fun and competitive.

And for the record no I don't have any of his transmission parts, however I have dealt with him when I was running just a shift kit for a while.

Dave Goerend

I was really impressed with the service I got from them. They accommodated my travel schedule. I got their about 8:30 in the morning on a cross country trip. ave took my truck out for a real comprehensive road test , including curb backing over. Then we went back to the shop and he showed me the wherefores and whyfores of tc's and trannys.

The transmission was on the cart in about one hour of coming in the bay. He has one very fast transmission remover there. :D

Then it got wheeled into the transmission hospital . The guy in there did a real clean r&r on the trans.

Dave went in the other room and got going on his tc building machine. He picked out the parts to build me up the one we had figured would suit both my present and future (bombing) needs.

He checks everything for just perfect fit , tunes them up , welds them up , balances them and in general produces a product with the quality and fit of the world's finest watch . (Do the Swiss still have the corner on that market ? )

Then after a road test and finally tuning and leak check , I was down the road by 4:30 with one awesome transmission .

One more happy customer.

Got the truck all back together. No hitchs or glitchs.

Man that converter is SWEEEET. It's a whole new truck... . completely different animal.

Took some getting used to the tight converter with the engine doing RPM sweeps between gears instead of a constant 2300 rpm flash between gears with the stock converter... .

Very happy with the whole deal. Went very smooth... .

... . other than the fact that when I started the truck for the first time, I had the transfercase in neutral. Figured I screwed something up, and took me a phone call to Goerend to figure that one out... .

So after this thrash, I would recommend folks call him if their considering a converter swap.
