What do people think about the Goerend trannies or their tripple disc clutch and valve bodies?

I wonder how they compare to ATS?

Just kicking around the options.

Thanks,

Blake

I know a couple people with the Goerend triple and they LOVE it. I personally know several people that have done business with Dave Goerend and I have not heard one word negative, all positive. I have personally met Dave and find him to be a personable and knowledgeable guy.

The Goerend triple is not the same as the ATS triple, but they are similar in a few respects. They both work.

e-mail me I will be glad to answer any questions that you may have about Goerends setup.

To easy to start a transmission war on here:-{}

I'll just say that I'm happy with mine and it has held up to my hp for quite a while without any problems, and his 3 disk really hold tight. The 3 disk is a good compliment to his properly milled stator

( I gave it the name of "super efficient milled stator")

E-mail me for any questions.

I've got the ATS, but I talked to Goerend's and I really liked what I heard.

They seem to me to be good guys with a good, reliable product. I probably would have gone with them if they had been closer.

For about the same price as having my transmission rebuilt locally and using the ATS TC and VB, I can have a complete rebuilt Goerend with triple disc TC and 100,000 mile warrantee.

The quest continues... ...

Goerend transmission

Dave has an awesome transmission setup for the cummins turbo diesel's. He showed me the triple disc converter in may, when he had 2 day dyno run's. Keep up the good work Dave!!!:D  Oo. Oo. Oo.

I had the stock valve body modified and the tripple disk put in at Dave's shop on May 17. I am VERY happy with this setup and Dave's quality of work(not to mention his great prices). The next day 3k delivery valves and a #4 plate were installed in the pump, then I went on the dyno. At 285hp/714tq,the truck lost traction on the dyno wheels and this is with 600# of weight and 4 guys in the back of the truck! On the street, the truck shifts identical to stock, except that the transmission hooks up and the truck just flys(right Norm?). Needless to say I love what Dave has done to the transmission and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

P. S. I am a "average" guy,not sponsored by anyone. I pay to play, and tell it like it is.

Goerend's Trannies are excellent. You would not be disappointed. There is no sense starting any controversy by saying his is the best stufff out there, but I am convinced that it is the most bang for the buck. For anyone that doesn't want to (or can't) spend 3,000plus dollars for a transmission, Goerend should be their first choice. Good luck in your search

Dave starts with the OEM cast stator. He custom profiles the stator to your specific desire or needs. But it doesn't end there. Dave personally assembles TCs to exacting tolerances that add more value to the package.

I watched Blackcloud's truck run the dyno. I missed the trany rework on Friday, but we installed the GSK and #4 plate (significantly slid back) on Saturday. I thought high EGTs really limited things, too. I hope to see it run again after more accessories are installed.

The most impressive peformance I saw was on a conventional (single disk) Goerend TC that did 315 rwhp on a Dynojet back in February. The pressure on the TC lock-up circuit was only moderately boosted. It did not require the infamous seal blowing pressures to limit slippage.

I plan to return to Dave's shop this year for a little preventative maintenance on my auto.

I know his normal complete trans with a single disc was less than $2,000 when I was checking prices. I never got a price for a complete trans with triple disc. Dave did tell me that the valve bodies he uses on the ones with the triples do not need to have as many modifications done to them because they do not need to use the extra high line pressures that the single discs require(still higher than stock though). So the valve body mods would probably cost less when using the triple and that would off set some of the extra cost of the triple disc. If no one chimes in I will try to give Dave a call tomorrow to give you an answer CC.

In my research... . no particular transmission will take XXX. x HP or torque that it's builder said it would IF you beat the heck out of it.

Many people like to say that their transmission is rated for a particular HP or torque level... but that's just a guideline, NOT a guarantee.

When you call and order a TC or VB and they ask for the HP level your truck is at... . be honest... and be sure to tell them of your possible future HP intentions or payloads/etc. This information allows them to tailor YOUR transmission to YOUR truck.

The short answer is that NO transmission is bulletproof, but we are always looking for the "transmission fountain of youth" with our trucks.

We are driving 7000+ pound trucks that make craploads of torque/HP at RPMs that the vast majority of auto trannies were never designed to deal with..... couple with that is our fondness of putting our right foot into the soot pedal all the time. We are asking an aweful lot from these trannies, and I believe that EVERY vendor has made absolutely incredible improvements over the stock configuration... .

It's a VERY tough decision..... I wish everyone the best of luck in their choice, and hope that those who have already taken the plunge have similar good fortune.

The price for the whole transmission with triple disc clutch is $2550. His warrantee for is 100,000 miles.
