Goin to Sturgis

Well I'm dropping the funds to go Sturgis Bike Week. Just in fuel I am figuring $1500. About 3400 miles round trip. Leaving Warner Robins GA going 75, 24, 57, 64 and then hitting 70 towards St Louis, to KC, 29 north out of KC to 90 in SD. A couple people have said take 64 straight to 70 and run it thru St. Louis. From what I understand there is a new bridge that makes it easier to get thru. I am pulling my 46' GN but I expect that I will be getting to St Louis about 10-11 PM. I am thinking that the traffic should be ok at that time of night (Tuesday). Last time I was in that area was several years ago and then it was not a good idea to be anywhere near that area with anything larger than a car. For those of y'all that live work or travel that area, (St Louis) give me your .02.

Well you know them women, they have to have there girly stuff and if I rode it would take 1/2 of my time that am taking off to get there and the other 1/2 to come back. I've gotten a little old. About 4 hours is all I can do at a time. But I guess no one lives around St Loius to tell me if its a good idea on my origional question.

I did this trip last year from south florida, on the way out I didn't want to drive through St. Louis on a weekday so I took I-24 to I-57 to I-55. This allowed me to pick up the 270 loop on the south side of St. Louis and go around to the west side and pick up I-70.

There is a better route that you might try, in Paducah get off I-24 and take US-60 over the river and pick up I-55 near Sikeston, MO. This will save you a few miles. Last year the US-60 bridge over the river was restricted to passenger cars only while the bridge was being worked on but it should be done by now.

On the way back we drove through St. Louis since it was a Saturday, the traffic wasn't too bad but the roads were full of pot holes. All the bumps beat the hell out of the trailer.
