Okay hello to all I have a 04. 5 600 but I will be selling this and going back to a 2000 or a 2001. I need some help and input on the new upgrades for the 2nd Gen's that are reliable and good combos, talking about producing around 400 to 450 hp. but also decent Mpg. I had a 2000 CTD my last truck but I kept in stock except and exhaust and AFE intake. The truck will be a auto due to wife using time to time. so I know a convertor and valve bodie will be on my list. but if I could get some help on fuel side ( injectors pumps etc. )

boxes fuel timing etc,

thanks,

JB

I guess I would start with gauges. Mechanical or digital? Some of the fueling boxes have the monitors with gauges in them, also tells 0-60 times and 1/4 mile runs. Then I would probably go with an upgraded intake and exhaust. From there, I would do the transmission, no sense in adding all this power and not be able to get it to the ground. For the aux. fuel pump, you have a few options. I would go with a mech. pump, one less electrical problem to deal with. Injectors, look into something along the line of a DD3 or maybe DD4. Turbos, there are so many available you're just going to have to search around on those. I would also look into some upgraded intercooler boots as adding boost tends to blow the stock boots off. This is just my opinion, I didn't list any brands cause I don't want to start a war. Good luck and have fun. Mike

Comp, F1 injectors and a little PDR35-12 and the reliable DTT did 440HP recently.

Bigger turbo would clearly put better numbers up, but this runs great in the range I use it in. I do not tow heavy.

Thanks again,

does anyone know what boost range I will be looking at with upgrades on the 2nd gen, not talking twins on the truck but a decent mid-single turbo with box. my current truck I can hit 42-44 psi with the TST on a stock turbo. just wondering thanks again the TDR crowd is always the best.

I can just about hit that at WOT with my setup. However, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The stock HX-35 or HY-35 with the auto goes off the map once you get much above 30-35 psi. In other words, drive pressure starts to build and the efficiency of the turbo goes way down. Instead of acting like a turbo should, it acts like a giant blowdryer. To make a long story short, I don't recommend 40 psi on a stock turbo in a 2nd gen.

With an upgraded turbo, numbers in the 40's or even 50's (probably would recommend head studs and gasket, o-ring work here) with the right turbo. It depends on what you use it for and how big you want to go. Even an upgraded HX-35 as has been mentioned might be enough. Remember the bigger you go, the more lag you're gonna get (in general).

As far as my recommended upgrades, a CATCHER should be on your short list. Absolutely phenomenal product. Don's injectors are also a very good addition. If you want to, you could stack a CATCHER and TST Powermax (with the regular CATCHER) or stack a special CATCHER with an Edge Comp (if you don't mind tapping the pump wire). You will need lift pump improvements. My recommendation is a RASP system (check out DTT and Power by Poole, they both carry it or PM me). Gauges as well, but I'm sure you know that already.
