Hi guys,

I found a 2004. 5 2500 SWB CC 4x4 600 6sp at my local dealer in the light almond metallic. The sticker is 39. 5k and he says he can come down 7k or so. That sounds like a good deal, plus I have a car to trade and about 5k in cash so I should be able to get my payments down pretty good. If I had to pick any of the colors, I would probably go with Atlantic Blue, but the almond is really classy looking IMHO. I can't wait to take it for a test drive. Are there any things to be aware of on a 1st run, like rear end whine or a stutter, or etc... ? Some of you guys have me scared to buy a 600 truck with some of your complaints, but then it seems like most of you love the truck. Anywho, I'm just rambling on. I was just pumped to finally be getting a new truck and wanted to share. Any other thoughts on the 600s or 2500 SWB? Thanks!

Chris

The one thing that concerns me is the 2000RPM vibration that I have been reading about. I finally get to drive mine on Friday 4/23.

Take it for a good run. Try to get on a highway if possible around 70mph or so. If she runs good without excessive driveline vibration or noise, grab it!

I would check the overall fit and finish before delivery, but the dreaded driveline vibration/noise seem to be the only major complaints that aren't easily remedied.

Woo-hoo!:D That's great Klenger.

Gonzo, the dealer is about 5 miles from I64 so I don't think they will have a problem with me taking it on the 4-lane up to 70mph or so. I am stokedOo.

1 week, 1750 miles. Like it more each day. Minor vibration (for me) at 70 but smooths out real nice 80-85

The complaint that lived up to it's name is the exhaust/blowback/whatever smell in the cab at a standstill. Pretty annoying but absolutely no regrets.

You might want to have them try and find an Atlantic Blue. That color is sweet.

If you like it, take it home!

I have the same identical truck except long box. I like it although the fuel economy coulb be better as you already know. My truck does not seem to have any of the problems like vibes. it was built in Jan. only have <3000 miles so the fuel mileage may be related to that. started out around 15 MPG first four tanks. have a best of 16. 8 MPG. not too bad but I thought they would start out better than that... . time will tell. seems to have lots of turbo lag until 2200-2500 RPM. Maybe a muffler and air filter could take care of that some. overall I am pretty happy with this truck

How do you like the color so far? I think it is a classy color and I haven't seen another one like it in town. I figure it will stay cooler in the summer without going to a white truck. Not that it gets that hot here;) Does it show dirt, dust, pollen too bad?

We have an '01 Almond mini-van, and I think it is one of the better colors for keeping a clean "look". I agree it looks quite classy on the Rams.

New 600

CStansbury,

Sounds like he'll give you a good deal.

2xxx miles here and loving the truck. Slight harmonic at 77mph but nothing major.

Check for the weight on the hose, and before delivery, make sure all fluid levels are checked.

Best of luck.

The weight on the hose? Is that the fix I was reading about in the TDR journal for power steering line harmonics? I know it was something like that:confused: Thanks.

Coobie, thanks for the feedback on the color choice. :)

I really like the almond color. Don't seem to see very many of them. My friends call it a "grandpa" color so maybe thats it. I would have to agree on the "classiness". When I see one that color coming at me it sure dous look nice. I have a white ford and I like that color too. I prefer the lighter colors (white, beige, silver)

sorry I didn't answer all your ? Yae I think it is easy to keep clean compared to any darker colors. You can only see the dirt if you are very close to it unlike the darker colors that appear faded when they are dirty. AAlso I paid 31,300 for mine before taxes. Not too bad considering the price of the competition
