Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Going from HX 35 to an HX 40

Will I have more power with the 40 or will I have to more fuel mods I still have stock injectors and delivery valves with a custom EEP cam plate . Thanks

I don't think I would consider installing a 40 until you have more fuel. With your current fueling it will be very doggy off the line. Why are you thinking a 40 at this point?



Most guys go to 40's when they are overfueled (is that possible ) to start with. The 40 then will deliver more air to aid in buring the excess fuel. At your fueling I guess you will probably pick up some HP but not a great amount and drivability will suffer.

Put a larger housing on the 35 for now and see how it works if you are not going to add any more fuel in the near future. A PDR 40 will work on a 300 hp truck if you really want a 40.

Your truck is not an automatic is it? I can't belive just a plate in a 180 pump (or smaller) would cause big EGT problems with an 18cm housing.

My truck is a 97 5spd with the 215 hp pump.

Of course, we don't know what your "custom EEP" cam plate is doing for you, exactly (as compared to one of the TST numbered plates, for instance), but you can't have too much air! If you're smoking a lot and EGT are high, go for a PDR 40. I doubt with a 5 spd you'll notice much lag. You will pick up some HP with the bigger turbo due to improved burning efficiency of the fuel.

Definitely the way to go ... gives incredible top end and cools things down a bit. Just make sure you give it a lot of fuel.



You will need the 4" downpipe for the PDR HX40, so plan on that. If you have a exhause brake, you will need to get a new one ... in the 4" size.

My EEP plate is probaly somewhere beteewn a TST 4 or 5 I dont know what HP it is rated at because I bought it used.

#10 plate and PDR HX40-16 turbo

Three weeks ago i installed a #10 camplate and a PDR HX40-16 turbo and a PDR hx40 downpipe and fit great and matched right up to my 5" exhaust system. Love the turbo and the way it spools right up, I put #10 plate about. 020 forward of centered and i pulled a 24ft enclosed trailer 200 miles and it worked like a dream, i am very impressed with this setup over the stock turbo a camplate. Oo.
