Going overboard to protect my truck?

What engine coolant?

So I was looking at my truck the other day and thought "Hmm this truck doesn't have enough switches... ... Actually all the talk I see of our trucks being stolen lately added with the uneasy feeling I get when I see little deviants "admiring" my truck longer than normal has prompted me to undertake Operation "keep my truck".

I am in the process of gathering some switch panels and relays from Jegs and I am planning on the following:

1. Remote ignition switch

2. Starter relay switch

3. Fuel shut-off switch

4. Remote starter switch

5. Fuel shut switch

6. Manually activated clutch position switch

7. Battery cut off

I'm thinking I will have some switches electrically open and some electrically closed so that the switches on my panel will not all be in the same position to work as a thief might assume they would (if they find my switches). This should slow him down and to much time figuring it out should frustrate him enough to move along before getting caught or on to easier pickins.

So what do you think? A little overboard or not enough? Anyone have any other suggestions they want to throw in feel free.

Sounds to me like they will tow it away :{ :{

I contemplated making my 1200w inverter make the shifter come alive with 120v if it was stolen, but figured I would just fry the wife, or myself... .

DH, you better rig a by-pass to all of the switches. The more electrical equip. you install the more problems you will have.

That's true but relays arent much of a problem, especially in this type of application. It's worth the maintenance on the relays to keep my truck since I'm a stone's throw from the border and would never see it again.

I know what you mean. I used to live in Marana, AZ right outside Tucson. Couple years ago had a 99 PS stolen right outside my trailer.

and how about that feeding a neon lamp transformer to really wake things up... :D:D:D

My truck has a little tiny switch that is very well hidden but easily accessable that won't allow the truck to even turn over, but will let the truck run and drive. If I leave the truck running and locked I flip the switch, that way if they shut it off they can't restart it. It was in the truck when I got it so I can't tell you much about it, but when it first got hit accidentily it took quite a while to figure it out and get the truck started.
