Yep, sad but true. Blue Thunder finally had it's first malfunction :{. I've developed a lot of gear noise in the transmission (6 speed).

I just installed a new clutch, then the noise started. It is almost a grind when I engage the clutch, even in neutral. I had a service manager and a transmission guru listen to it today and insisted that I bring it in. It's under warranty, so I'm not worried about it... much :(. It's something internal. The throwout bearing is fine.

While it's in the shop, I'm having the seal between the vacuum and power steering pump replaced. I also ripped out the computer port. They wont be reflashing this truck, :p!

Ok, I get a call at 10:00 this morning from the dealer. It went something like this:

"Mr. Lilley, our technician has remove the transmission from your truck and put it on a test stand. When he pulled the PTO covers to drain the oil, he found a lot of metal. Cup your hands together and imagine them about half full of dime size chunks, you get the idea. We'll dig deeper, but it looks like it will most likely be a new transmission... " :mad: :( :{

Now that has me wondering, what could have happened to cause the transmission to shell itself? And where would that much metal come from, but still allow the truck to be drivable? The only reason I brought it in was because of the noise! Guess now I know how metal chunks sound in a six speed :rolleyes:.
