Going to Kauai in oct. Any sight seeing recomendations?

We will be there for a week and are renting a car to travel and see as much as we can what are some good places to see?

If you can afford it, do the helicopter tour. Waterfalls everywhere! We also did one of those movie 4wd tours. It was a bit corny but some parts were cool, like the Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park stuff. Also took a kayak trip up the river to see more waterfalls and it was fun. Last thing was a cat boatride up the coast and to snorkel. Snorkeling was great but the ride got REAL rough and most people wanted to die!

Used to live in Hanalei, The zodiac boat rides to the Napali coast are good. No roads into the area and the place is all yours when you land for a day on the beach. This is where they filmed Juarassic Park because it is so isolated- all park land. Go to Wiamea canyon. It is the Grand Canyon of Hawaii and there is a nice lodge at the park up top reachable by road without too much trouble. Do the kayak trip up either of the rivers. Makes a nice trip and you are at your own speed. Take a picnic lunch with you, but there are mosquitos so take bug dope.

Wife and I did this back in June... it was the BEST part of the entire trip The MudBug is basically a small dune buggy type vehicle, 18hp Kohler powered. Bigger than the old Honda Odyssey but smaller than an actual dune buggy. The tour company was great, the guides knew how to make the tour fun for everyone. YOU WILL GET DIRTY! but they will supply some over clothes and stuff. It's a FREAKIN' BLAST!!!

Do the Zodiac up the Napali coast as said previously beautiful, take as drive up to the grand canyon. Eat there island famous ice cream. The kyacking, zip line, swimming was a blast . Alot to do. Also watch out more chickens than humans on that island

Do a trip up a river, (cant Remember the name)... To a Fern Grotto where Weddings were performed. . Real Neat area.



Some of the Hotels around the beach has Polyneasian shows,... and the whole place is pretty neat.



If you have the time and money, Island Hop to Oahu and go to the Western Shore past "Black sand Beach" ( a beach with course black sand)... to The... ... "Polyneasian Cultural Center"... ... . That is ONE, ALL-DAY PLACE!!! FANTASTIC!!! And it finishes up with a spectacular show at night... VERY, VERY WELL WORTH IT... if you can, do it by all means! IT's the one place in all of Hawaii I can Recommend.
