Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) going to look at a 98 24V

with a friend tomorrow so would like a little help in knowing what to look for in the way of problem areas. apparently its a 2500 4X4 5 sp. Its on a used lot so will recommend he take it to an independent shop for more thorough check before he gets too serious. for example, if it has had a box without guages how do you tell?

Is it a 12v or a 24v. No boxes on the 12 valve, just fuel plates and injectors.



24v can have boxes and injectors. Best to have someone local who know bombing for which ever truck it is take a look. Tapping the pump wire on a 24v is a giveaway for previous mods, but REAL hard to spot. Try to see if you can get the previous owners phone number to talk with them about the truck.
