Well after I get all the parts rounded up I am going to put it all back together and will add a new torque plate and 60lb exhaust springs.

Got a tst#6 coming. they told me that woudl be the best for my truck. 95 - auto. Would like some feedback on where to set the timing when I put it back together. Should I bump it up to 15* - 16* or leave it at 12. 5*.

Don't want EGT's to become too much of an issue.

Also anyone running an exhaust brake, if so, what kind and do you like it?

Is it worth the money.

Comments and advice greatly appreciated.

I wanted to add 3000gsk but tst told me it would run worse if I used it with the #6 plate Why would that be so?

Thanks again.

Oo.

Bumping up the timing will lower the EGTs. Mine was 14* stock, and have it at 16. 2* now. Dropped the EGTs about 150*.

Not sure why some plates and the gsk don't get along. IIRC, the #11 plate is another one that doesn't wok well with it.

I have about the same truck you have. The #5 plate works for me, but my trans is stronger than stock. The #6 is the most that is advised for a stock 47RH and a 160 pump. I'm running 15. 5° timing. That works well with the 160 pump. Actually lower EGT with the advanced timing. Some are running a little more advance with no problems. I get 3K RPM with a couple of clicks tighter on the stock governor springs. More than that is supposed to cause idle problems. I don't know that for sure, but mine will turn fast enough for me and it idles just fine.

I have a Pacbrake with 60# exhaust springs. At first it was set for 35# springs and worked pretty good. When I put in the stronger springs I used a flat head screw to block the hole in the brake butterfly so it is now set for the 60# springs. It works better now. As for as being worth the money it may be the most value for the buck gadget that I have bought for the truck. I use it all the time, not just for towing. Brakes last forever.

PM me if you want to discuss these '95 beasts.
