2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Going to rewire light switch

I was going to rewire the factory light switch so that when I turn on the Dome Cargo light which is a 2 position switch the cargo light will come on first rather than the dome being the first on because I do a lot of trailer spotting at night and when the dome light is on first it is hard to see out back window. Anybody else ever do this?

As I recall, I just identified each lamp lead, and released them from the terminal block on the switch and reversed them. I also added a toggle switch for the cargos only so I could quickly pop them on ( the cargo circuit carries to tractor lamps via a relay).
