Going to truck camper.

okay guys well it appears that I am have to go I'm going to have to get a receiver extension and etrailer has a bunch of them but yeah what size is the receiver and a truck so I know that I've got I think the 2in down where it you know goes down to the 2-inch what is it a two and a half or three in I'm not sure just in case any of you guys know because I'm going to have to get the extension and obviously you get a couple of turnbuckles and all that and to apply tension to strengthen it but it's anybody else using you know for pulling RV campers in that type of thing so travel trailers is anybody else doing that all right just curious I do need some help so I'm going to have to obviously get an extension but I think that we have a two and a half or three inches?????

I have one of those from my 12v. The hitch went with the truck, but I should sell the extension. I haven’t needed nor can I use it.

Does anybody know what the pound rating is my factory installed nexen tires is it like $1,800 a piece or two thousand pounds of peace I was just curious cuz I looked and I couldn't find it on the tires the pound rating Max for each tire it says it's on the side but I don't see it maybe you guys may know appreciate your help?????????

I know with the 5,000 lb truck camper I'm going to need the best tires I can get I think the Michelin primacy tsar the best what do you guys think and so can I find the load rating on the tires they are an e-4 you know excellent but I don't know what the actual pounds they can take is just curious???

Max pressure and load rating are right on the sidewall.

Nexum is rated the same as any other brand. The load rating is set by TRA.
LT235/80-17E in Single Configuration (front) is rated 3085@80psi
LT235/80-17E in dual configuration is rated 2470@65psi (door tag rating) and 2835@80psi maximum.

I ran M608z's on my 05. Great stability and load handling but horrible tread life. I sold them before they wore out but they were on track to be less than 30K mile tires with a 5 tire rotation.

I hope to do better, I'll be keeping my stock 20"ers running them camping off season, and my old 19.5"s aged out before I wore them out ......

I only ran mine in the camping season too, needless to say I wasn't impressed with the wear life considering the cost. If I had kept the 19.5's I would not have gone back to Toyo on the 2nd set.

IT'S NOT A 5,000 LB Truck Camper! I have posted the loaded in use weight twice. Sounds like you are listening to the salesman giving you advice to use the tire rating limits that can lead to you being found "Grossly Negligent" by overloading your vehicle. As you are planning on COMMERCIAL USE, hauling an RV for hire, this directly applies to you where RV owners "Not For Hire" get away with murder. (And can be found liable under the Grossly Negligent).

"Gross Negligence". If you knowingly operate any vehicle in a manner that could be deemed unsafe and are involved in an accident you are likely to be held accountable for the damage, and in the case of death likely to be criminally charged.

Don't take the Internet's word for it. Web sites explaining how to use the tire rating while ignoring the GVWR are going away fast. I suggest you call both your attorney who will be defending you if the need arises and your insurance company. My attorney told me about a case involving a overloaded pickup from a Goose Neck trailer. No lives lost, but, due to the Arizona Stupid Law the insurance company walked away citing the "stupid" overloaded combo. So they were out the cost of a pickup, GN trailer, and all medical. That conversation with my attorney talked me out of overloading my truck with a truck camper real quick. I was even looking at 19.5" wheels to carry one of the heavy campers I liked.

Again if you are going to downsize: downsize already! You are still holding out for 5th wheel room and maybe you should keep your 5th wheel instead of a truck camper.

These are my summer/towing tires, Nitto Dura Grapplers LT285/70R/17 L126R using Mickey Thompson SideBiter II rims.
I run the rear tires air pressure at 70PSI which provides a load rating of 3,415 Lbs. The maximum tire load rating is 3,750 LBS at 80 psi, but you will need to find a different rim than I use to support my tires. As the Mickey Thompson rims will only support a tire load of 3,640 LBS.

I have an Artic Fox 1140, it is heavy 4000 lbs My 2011 3500 dually just about completely maxed out with it on back. I have all the Torklift stuff on it plus, Hellwig air bags and swaybar. I run 80lbs in all tires and 90 in the bags. With the Torklift hitch and supertruss 48in it pulls a trailer well. You need all of TL overload spring stuff also. And if you dont have a camera you have no idea if your trailer is behind you. That being said I do have a 2013Artic Fox 1140 for sale!!!!

I have a 2017 dually with all the torklift stuff, 28" extension with a 2004 arctic fox 990. I tow an 18' car trailer and a 2005 GTO that we race. Never had any issues towing, truck handles the weight just fine. Gone cross country with this setup with no issues.

If this is all about just getting out on the highway to drive, go buy a Volvo class 7/8 tractor, and build a camper box on it. And enjoy your "little" trailer delivery hobby in comfort.

Without my trailer I'm about 500lbs over my rear axle weight, and a bit over GVWR. With 750 pounds of tongue weight, I'm a bit over my rear axle weight by a couple hundred pounds. Still under the axle manufacturer weight, but a bit over the 9,750 Ram says. I run a Hellwig swaybar as well. Now that I upgraded to a large enclosed trailer, I bought a trailertoad.com that I'm currently modifying to run with the 48" extension (need some more triangulation). It's a bit late to track down some pics but if people are interested I'll post up.
