Going to Vegas, need motel recomendation

The wife and I are heading to Vegas from Denver this Tuesday for business. I need some motel recommendations for Tuesday night, something clean and reasonable about halfway. Also some good places to stop for fuel.

My wife and I stayed at Bally's in April. They were rude and not accomidating at all. If in the casino, we never saw a bar maid to bring so called free drinks. They charge extra everywhere they can. They charged me $20 per visit to the gym, which wasn't all that great to begin with, I ended up only going once. They also charged an extra $20 per night to have a non-smoking room. I can't stand paying for something I don't do. We wouldn't have stayed there but we had friends staying there that were getting married there that weekend. Turns out Bally's screwed up the reservations and they had to go to a different chapel as it was. What a crappy place. They are right next door to Paris, stay away from there as well. I had a great time at Excalibur a few years back, they are much cheaper now that they are a few years old. My folks had a great stay at the Luxor last year as well. If you are into higher end hotels, I'd recommend staying at the Venetian, It has to be one of the most amazing buildings I've ever been in. They have some excellent steak houses there as well. Many friends also claim the Rio is an excelllent place to stay as well. So there's a few choices.

If possible top off your tank before getting into Nevada. Once accross the line, the prices were at or above $2. 00 per gallon.

Depends what you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay. Freemont Street is cool if you want to be able to walk around, and the dealers are more pleasant. If you stay around the Mirage, Luxor, Bellagio... it's gonna cost more but it's more visually pleasing... plus shows. Bring nice walking shoes because the hotels are blocks apart. My personnel favorite is the Venetian. They have an indoor mall that looks like you are in an Italian square... the ceilings have clouds and it appears like you are taking a nice summer stroll outside... too wild.

i was out in july and stayed at the Aladdin... not to bad but still kinda pricey... have heard good things about the Luxor... i was in a wedding at the Bellagio and that place is freakin sweet!! Fremont street is cool but watch out for beggars and conartists... they are everywhere... downtown i heard the Hilton is still supposed to be a good place to stay as well... . have fun!!!

Belagio and Venetian if no price concern. There is a motel 6 right across the street from the MGM Grand (walking distance to most other big casino's) if you want to go a little easier on the wallet. Also the Fiesta hotel (not on the strip) is a good locals casino and has THE BEST buffet in Vegas bar none, excellent price also. If nothing else hit that buffet!

Mis-Read

Thanks for all the input but I think you guys mis-read my post. I need a place to stay on the way out, about the halfway point, between Denver and LV. The company is putting me up at the MGM Grand when I get there.



Thanks Willyslover for the fuel info that will be helpful. Any fuel stops I should steer away from? I don't want any problems with my new baby.

It's only a 12-13 hour drive, so we generally drive straight through. But once we stayed in Green River or Green somethin or other in Utah, it was fairly cheap from what I remember.

We made reservations at the Motel 6 in Green River. $42 a night and my experience with them has been good.

I've stayed in the Green River M-6 several times, you got the good price, check out the summer rates on your room door never seen a M-6 with rates over $100 till this one.



Restaurant right to the west of the motel is pretty good.

Don't write off the big hotels on the strip on price without a call or a check on the Internet, sometimes they have really good deals.



I liked the Venetian and Belagio (sp). I never stayed at the Hilton or New York New York but have seen some good deals there.
