Going with STACKS... got a few questions

Who makes a good stack kit? I built the last ones but wouldn't be opposed to a kit this time around

Where can I get a new downpipe? Want to get rid of the kitty under there.

Is the drone bad w/o a muffler?

Drone? yep... not bad in winter, But killed me in the summer with windows down (thats why I added a 18inch mbrp)



As for the best place to get them? I got mine from ED KIN of heavy parts int'l:

I'm leaning towards the 6" bullhorns on Scheids website. I'm a bit worried about hauling stuff in the bed though. I get hay wedged in front of my tool box. Would hate to burn the thing down! Wonder how tough it would be to keep my toolbox and build something to keep crap from getting behind it? RC.

On my last truck I had local metal shop make me a piece of diamond plate that blocked the whole front of the bed and kept everything away from the actual pipes. This time I'm going to have a tool box. Prob cut out where I need to and weld in new diamond plate pieces to fill in the holes. Or just get a piece of diamond plate cut to fill the area from back of toolbox to bed and another underneath.



Yeah they are loud with the windows down... especially with the back slider open! What I really don't want is to go deaf when pulling a trailer on the interstate, if windows up controls it for long trips that's good enough. My SRT will pop your ears with any kind of a trailer behind it. Guess I'll try w/o muffler and see what I think.



How bout where can I find a new downpipe??

I got a 5" big rig 'shorty' muffler from the Freightliner dealer in town -- it had a baffle blocking the "straight thru", drilled a 4" hole thru the middle of that so there'd be some baffle but no blockage -- awesome sound and no headaches/nausea. Fits under the truck no problem between the floor and cross member support. A small stick of steel is welded to one side of the muffler and the cross member to make sure it doesn't vibrate into contact.



Bought my entire kit from the Freightliner dealer they let me wander around their warehouse with a tape measure and notebook until I had all the exact pcs to make it work. 5" downpipe came with my twins. Not counting the downpipe or chrome stacks it cost me about $300 (the downpipe and chrome are the expensive pcs).



Best place for downpipes prbly one of the turbo vendors.

My SP66 downpipe is of a 4inch flavor... So i just took another 3ft of 4inch and some flexpipe, and the kit came with the 90* elbow to point upwards - In other words the connection at the base of the bed is for sure only 4inch I. D. - You may be able to modify it to 5inch though if you are a good welder. .
