I'm ditching my EGR rear disk setup and going back to drums. I know to go with 3" shoes and a larger cylinders! Question is what drums do you guys recommend as well as all the other hard parts (springs and ajusters)? All I have from the original is the backing plates so I have to start over.

Also need front rotors anyone have a suggestion on these??

What you need to find is a parts truck and get everything. Why don't you like the discs?

If you were close to me I'd probably swap with you.

As long as you have the parking break lever on the backing plate, all the hard parts for mountin the shoes should still be available.



Don't skimp on the rotors and drums the cheap ones don't last.

Not to many Dodge parts trucks to be found anymore. The disk set up is nice when new but here in PA where the salt brine is used after a few years they are a PIA. The ajustment is in the E-brake and no matter what I do it just keeps freezing up. The set up wasn't worth it IMO and the only real nice thing about it was not having to pull the axles to work on them, and good thing cause I was always working on them:-laf.

With the drums at least I could just ajust the dang things and they would work. The master cylinder not being for 4 disc also caused problems and low pedal and never really feeling like the rears were working is another thing I never liked. It is prolly the reason for my fronts warping out on me as well a few times.

I just want to stop! My truck did all the things everyone elses did in terms of not ajusting and all, But going under and doing it a few times! I think it's worth it, My drums stopped pretty good and now I'm sorry I ditched them#@$%! Live and learn!!!

My last front brake job my son did... they ordered good rotors, got the wrong ones twice, so ended up only being able to get chinese f'in crap ones ( I couldn't leave the truck another 2 days to wait).

Yes 3 months later they were warped. Lived with them for almost a year and had them turned... they are sort of still ok after 6 months but I can feel them starting to go again.



There... I feel better now.

I just picked up new parking brake cables, springs, brake adjuster cables, the dually wheel cylinders and 3" pads. The adjusters were still available. This was through Arnolds Motor Supply. Don't know if they have stores in PA.



I went ahead and installed new wheel bearings, seals, and changed the rear diff oil too. First time in almost 10 years the parking brake works. And you know what, I already drove through it once. The truck just came out of the garage yesterday!

Whatever the most expensive one is.



Most of the stuff I get has a Raybestos source company behind it. There are cheaper pieces at places like CarQuest or Shmucks, but did those once cuz I was short of bling and had to do them again in less than a year.



Had more bling that time so got the good ones, about double the price.
