A thread about our commuter cars, huh?

My trip to work is 68 miles one way, (yet every third day). Being a serial monogamist when it comes to vehicles, I have had the following for commuters, (94' honda accord 5sp, 94 toyota camry wagon, 99 camry 5sp, 02 Jetta TDI 5sp plus a few more). Excepting the tdi, they all got around 27mpg. Way better than the 16-17mpg my truck gets.

The jetta was a lemon, plain and simple. Miss the fuel mileage greatly, yet not the headaches and out po'dunk VW dealer. But damn, getting 48mpg avg was very nice!

Now it is a 87 5. 0 mustang that I picked up last year. A original 70k coupe with a 5 spd. In a sense, kind of like that little slant 6 of yesteryear in that you can't kill that motor no matter what. Fuel mileage isn't too bad at around 22mpg but I forgive her that for the style she transports me in.

Back to the new offering from Dodge in the Dart. Will be interested to hear how she performs. The product launch for them was a little schizophrenic, yet they are seem to be getting good real world reviews.

E7, congrats on the move up and the Dart. I sat in a Dart limited while at my dealer getting parts. It was nice and roomier than the exterior suggests. Lots o luck with it. I'm interested in hearing how it is as well.

An update on the Dart... After a full week of interstate commuting, and around town driving, it averaged 37. 8 MPG. I have to get used to the no torque off idle thing. . turning left in front of 55mph semis in too high a gear proves to be scary. . LOL. It wont accelerate very fast. I am gonna have to get the windows tinted, as the cars and trucks that are behind me are blinding me at night because the car is so low to the ground. I really dig the red glow coming from around the dash and trim.
