A founding father of rock & roll whose fervent shrieks, flamboyant garb, and joyful, gender-bending persona embodied the spirit and sound of that new art form, died Saturday. He was 87. The musician’s son, Danny Jones Penniman, confirmed the pioneer’s death to Rolling Stone. The cause of death was bone cancer, the musician’s lawyer Bill Sobel told Rolling Stone.

Quite an entertainer. The only thing that comes close to Little Richard is Eddie Murphy impersonating Little Richard.

It's really sad to think of all the great musicians lost recently. As blues programming director of our local radio station, I'm getting emails and news from all the different music genres and every few days there's another huge talent lost.
